We had just hiked 9 miles on a nearby trail and were driving home thru Saluda when we saw several Ice Cream Cones dangling from the front of this store! What a great way to recover from all that exercise... We stopped in and found many available flavors of Ice Cream to choose from. We each ordered ours in a cup and I watched her pile 4 scoops of Mint Chocolate Chip into mine. At $3 for each of us that was the deal of the century!! We enjoyed ours at a table on the porch and there were also benches nearby. Nice break. The store also has a small grocery store and some tourist stuff as well. Will stop by next time...
Read moreWhat a great place and a step back in time to the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. We really appreciated Mr. Leon Jordan taking time with us in our family. If you come to Saluda, Oh, you should really step inside this store and wander around for a while. It is a Museum of Saluda as well as a real working store. Mr. Leon Jordan himself is a walking Museum. And he knows people from all around. When I told him I was from a small town in South Carolina, he knew at least half a dozen people from that town. It was amazing...

They said that they did not have bananas but the hardware store (Pace) down the street did carry bananas. What a great small town story, go to the hardware store for bananas! While in Pace I engaged several long term locals in conversation while there and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship. The inside of the store was great old, small town architecture.
