We arrived in San Angelo a little on the later side on a Friday evening with no hotel reservations. We called the MGM and left a message and shortly after they returned our call to confirm availability (although the price was a little higher than the website quoted). We were very warmly greeted by the owner who showed us to our room and told us breakfast was at 9am. The house is very charming but extremely cluttered. You have to be careful when you turn around so that you don't knock something over. It's almost like being in a very tightly packed Hallmark/antique store. Not good for small children. The room had great (and quiet) air conditioning, flat screen TV, wireless internet, and a comfortable clean bed. There was some noise from the road but you are in an old house and those things are to be expected. The whirlpool tub in the bathroom was fantastic (warm water immediately) and the closet was ample. However, no shower or extendable shower head from the tub. This makes washing long hair a challenge. ||There really wasn't any place to put anything down as every table, nightstand, counter, and chair was already filled with some knick-knack. ||There is an outdoor jacuzzi which we didn't use because it was too hot. But this may be nice in the cooler months. Also, you should like cats if you plan to use the garden because there were about 8 or 9 (or more). ||Breakfast was very nice. Coffee and juice as well as a fruit yogurt cup, quiche, scone, and a sausage ball. The presentation was also very nice and clean. ||We were a little surprised when we came back in the late afternoon to find our room had not been serviced. I've stayed at many B&Bs before and this is the first time the bed wasn't made. Also, at other B&Bs I've usually experienced an afternoon tea or wine provided by the house. I was a little disappointed that here there wasn't anything special. ||Overall the owner was very kind and friendly and we did have a pleasant stay but with a few small changes this place...
Read moreWe stayed at the Music Garden Mansion in August after being shocked at the prices of hotel rooms in town. After a little research online, we booked our room at the MGM. The price of our room was much more reasonable than most of the hotels, and the location was great for us as we were spending a lot of time downtown. The MGM is an older home with a lot of character which we found quaint and appealing. I would have to agree with Kaia78 that the house was too cluttered and not appropriate for smaller children. One would think that the clutter would be a haven for dust, but we were pleased to find that we never saw any dust anywhere! Our room was immaculate and decorated with some beautiful antique pieces, but it was somewhat difficult to maneuver in with the knick-knacks. Though the decor wasn't necessarily my style, I felt that if they removed about 75% of it, it would be absolutely darling, like staying at your grandmother's house. The bed was incredibly comfortable with beautiful bedclothes and the softest sheets I have ever slept on. The AC was very reliable and cooled the room quickly when we returned from an outing. The shower, while not fancy, had sufficient water pressure and hot water, so felt great. The breakfast in the morning was very tasty and we had a pleasant visit with Melody, who I suppose is the owner, and an interesting person. We did not expect our room to be cleaned so weren't disappointed that our bed wasn't made for us, unlike Kaia78, but ended up making it ourselves in the mornings so we could have somewhere to lay our clothes out. For the price, we'll definitely go back if we need...
Read moreA couple of years ago I had the pleasure of staying at the Music Garden Mansion while going through many tests to find out what was ailing me. The MGM was a delightful corner of the past sitting in a strategic spot that was a haven for my daughter-n-law and myself! The place was charming and our room comfy!! I love the decor with all the extra special touches that some call clutter and enjoyed the meals prepared with extreme thoughtfulness!!! Melody, thank you for putting your heart into your Music Garden...
