We reserved a room for my sons BMT graduation a few weeks ago. We checked in during the afternoon, but did not go in the room at that time. We wanted to visit the Riverwalk and Market Square with our daughter because she had never been to San Antonio. We got back to the room around 9:15 that night and as I was entering the room, I saw a dead roach lying in the doorway. We turned the lights on and my daughter saw a bug (looked like a small roach) on the cabinet under the TV. Then I saw one crawling up the wall, while my husband opened the drawer and seen another one. My daughter is Autistic and started yelling that she couldn't stay there. Rather than to have things escalate, my husband and I decided it was best to check out of the hotel that night. I went down and talked to the personnel working and explained the situation to him. He was very nice about the whole situation and offered to give us another room. We did not accept and I asked if he could leave a note for the manager to give me a call. I called back the next morning and spoke with another employee and explained everything again. She told me they cancelled my reservations, but would have to charge me for a nights stay, which I didn't find appropriate since we were only in the room for 5-8 minutes at the most. We came home from San Antonio and I called the customer service number and explained the situation to them. She was very nice about the entire situation and told me that I should not have been charged at all for services that were not rendered. I did hear back from the manager the following day telling me they had refunded my money back. Even though I was not satisfied with the hotel, the staff was really helpful during my situation that evening. However, I still can not believe a Ramada would be so ran down for what they charge. I always thought Ramada was a well kept Inn/Hotel and maybe they are, but this one definitely needs to be updated and have an exterminator come...
Read moreDisclaimer: the intent of our stay was to find a hotel within our budget that would provide a suitable environment for basic things: showering and sleeping. We only used the hotel for those reasons. We did not use the pool. To that end, the hotel met our minimum standards.
The pros:
-The beds were surprisingly comfortable, quiet, and the bedding was soft and clean. -The toilet has a strong flush. The room was clean, including the floors. None of us experienced dirty feet after walking around barefoot. The fridge is decent size and convenient. The air conditioner is quiet, and kept the room a consistently cool 68 degrees The black out curtains are adequate. The water stayed hot The staff is very responsive and kind
The cons: Hot water temperature was inconsistent - never experienced scalding... it would just cool slightly during use The hardware on the door is not maintained. Our door handle came off (yes. OFF... literally pulled it right off the moment we got there. But, the staff immediately responded and fixed the door) The shower/tub is small.... so anyone with a large body type will be disappointed The shower water pressure is mediocre... but it’s good enough to get the soap out of a girl’s hair without too much fuss The place is OLD. It could be better maintained. The continental breakfast is terrible. It primarily consists of prepackaged items (honey buns, etc), small Activia yogurts, and mini muffins. It has a waffle maker option, but one of the waffle makers wasn’t working. The only real protein source were “eggs” which were yellow flat circles. The eating area for breakfast is small and crowded
In conclusion: we are indifferent to this hotel. We aren’t opposed to returning, but it’s not a “steal of a deal” kind of place...
Read moreGreat hotel! After reviewing several hotels in the area, we decided to go with Ramada based on other reviews for this location. I can confirm, this is a really good one and I would recommend it to anyone needing to stay in San Antonio. Perfect location that is driving distance to Lackland AFB and downtown area. The beds are comfortable and rooms are clean! No bed bugs or other bugs. The AC works and is good too. The room also has a mini fridge, tv, and a small place to hang clothing. Also offers a safe, clothes iron and ironing board. The shower is great and only takes a few seconds for consistent hot water. They also have dove shampoo conditioner body wash and body lotion for free! The breakfast is contentinal style and while not luxurious, it is quite good for the price of the hotel (please see picture). The coffee and waffle you can have here are delicious. Outside the hotel there's a Denny's and Wendy's within walking distance. The area is safe and I didn't see any homeless or other negative things associated with the other hotels in the area. Overall it's a great hotel for the price...
