A quick birthday trip to San Antonio, TX quickly became the MOST HORRIBLE experience. I've stayed at Wyndham chains in the past, so I figured a Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham San Antonio Northeast for a short two night stay would suffice...boy do I regret that decision.
We booked the room on a Wednesday. The night before we would arrive in San Antonio on a Thursday. We tried to make the reservation online but couldn't due to maintenance issues. (At least that's what we thought) So we just called the hotel directly to book a room. (Got a confirmation number) We wake up Thursday morning with our account showing two pending charges for the same hotel. Problem number one. Why were we charged twice if we never got a confirmation number from the online reservation?
Finally checking in at the hotel we had to call Wyndham customer care to prove to the front desk we hadn't booked two rooms. The first transaction should have never went through but I guess the maintenance issues charged us anyways. Customer care was able to confirm the glitch so the Ms. Janet (the only helpful person) at desk canceled one of the reservations. (Again, SO WE THOUGHT)
Friday we wake up to not one. Not two. But three pending charges from the same hotel. Ms. Janet (she was nice) at the front desk and customer care both assured us ONLY ONE transaction would be processed.
We left our room around 11:30am. Had a great time exploring San Antonio. But to add insult to injury, we returned around 9pm to a room that hadn't been cleaned. Yes, the bed wasn't made and no fresh towels. What are we paying for? By it being so late and knowing we were checking out Saturday morning we just went to sleep. When I asked the rudest woman in customer service, Danielle, at the front desk why the room was never cleaned she questioned why I hadn't said anything Friday night. When I said because it was bedtime and a housekeeper coming into my room after 9pm seemed pointless, her response was 'Well why say something now? You were obviously okay with it.' Really?! That's what I call piss poor customer service. I have a voice recording of our terrible interaction with Danielle at the front desk if anyone wants to hear it.
Oh did I mention by the time we checked out Saturday morning those three mystery pending transactions actually went through. Yup almost $450 STOLEN from our account, from what was supposed to be a $140 two night stay.
Danielle was a piece of work. Even with the bank statements in front of her face she was unable to tell us why we were charged three times. Her best "explanation" was in order for the hotel to refund our money they had to take that amount to cover their deficit. Doesn't make sense and honestly as a customer the hotel balancing their books at the expense of my bank account is unacceptable. Again, I have my conversation with Danielle recorded if anyone wants to hear it.
Although I had a great time in San Antonio, the billing and quality issues at the Microtel by Wyndham San Antonio Northeast were ridiculous. I'm mad at myself for choosing this as a place to stay during my birthday. But what upsets me most is that our account is almost $450 short because of the nonsense. Customer care says they can't do anything for almost 7 days. Only took 48 hours for Microtel to steal money that doesn't belong to them...I'm sure you understand from this post I WILL NEVER spend my money at a Microtel and probably never set foot in another Wyndham property. Read moreEXTREME CATFISH, This hotel is nothing like the images online. The pool is EXTREMELY small. I have a large family (6 kids) and I can guarantee you that not even 4 of them would have fit. I understand the hotel is under construction, but as soon as a checked inn the front desk receptionist was extremely rude to the guest in front of me and was very short with me, which I prefered honestly after seeing her interaction with the previous guest, then after we checked inn we were waiting for the elevator for it only to get jammed and the receptionist had to shut it down and restart it (scary & glad we didn't get stuck) There was only one elevator for the hotel then we had someone knock on our door shortly after checking inn claiming to be maintenance and wanting to come inn to see the inside of our door!? he was in plain clothing with no job identification or employee badge after questioning "How I was to be sure he was actually affiliated with the hotel or an employee?" before letting him inn, he stated for me to "call the lady downstairs" Mind you I am a women answering a hotel door with 6 kids (my spouse was in the room, but he didn't answer the door, I did) I'm not judgemental at all, but not only was he in plain clothing with no identification to prove he worked at the hotel or was affiliated, but he also was in shorts that exposed his ankle monitor (Which didn't bother me just painting the image as to where my head was at for the questions) I've stayed at quite a few hotels and for what I paid (which was about $379 for one night due to it being memorial day weekend) it was clearly a price gauge. The breakfast area is super small, I don't even know you can call it that and only served drinks. I would only stay here if you are literally planning on only sleeping in the room and leaving immediately after, like don't spend anytime here lol the sheets where even itchy (I didn't even know that could be a thing lol) the walls are extremely thin, Like extremely!. I was woken up my someone knocking on "maintenance door" saying how there was a bird in their room. YES! a bird. I only gave 2 stars, because they were able to accommodate me with a room, but if I would have known all of this prior I PROMISE I would NOT have wasted my money AT ALL. I would have wanted someone to tell me all of this prior, so that I could have made a better decision. I hope this helps someone when deciding on if they'd like...
Read moreSHAME ON THE OWNER OF THIS LOCATION! THIS MICROTEL IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF REPAIR AND REMODELING!!!
Not exactly sure where to start with this review. We chose this hotel as part of a Priceline bundle because it is close to Fort Sam Houston where we are visiting our son. I have stayed in one other very nice Microtel in another state so I felt fairly confident chosing this one. Huge mistake! But before I begin with my criticisms I first want to say a few good things. The front desk staff were friendly. The lobby is nicely designed and incorporates the breakfast area which is very small yet nice though not well stocked. They have a very small very overpriced yet convenient onsite micromart where you can purchase snacks, drinks, and personal items. It is conveniently located off the interstate though you have to travel though a very, very sketchy series of roads to get to it. That is honestly the only good I can offer.
The rooms are much smaller than they appear but it served the basic purpose of having a room with a bathroom to stay in. The electrical connections are questionable at best. The lights flicker when turning them on. The receptacles are loose. By that I mean that when plugging in something like a charger, curling iron, etc, the plug on your device wants to fall out. The walls are chiped and scraped in various areas. The mattress at least in our room needs to be replaced. Three of the worst nights of sleep in my life! Horribly uncomfortable! The plumbing valve in the shower has been installed incorrectly so when you want hot water you have to turn it to cold. The plastc shower mat was evidently worn out, was ripped, and did not stick well resulting in a slip and fall. When we reported it they left a new one in the room for us to open and install! The shower curtain rod is installed at such a steep angle that the curtain slips down the rod leaving gaps at the ends where water could escape. Housekeeping is subpar and is either in need of training or under the direction of owner/manager not replacing the very meager supply of cups and towels which buy the way are so thin and threadbare that you can see through them. I could go on but the pictures I have included tell the story. After this experience, Microtels are off of my list of hotels to stay at when traveling. I sincerely hope that corporate looks into...
