Eva's Place — Hotel in San Buenaventura (Ventura)

Eva's Place - Check the Amenities!!! I don't like leaving negative reviews anywhere, unless, I feel it will benefit others. We stayed at Eva's place in February 2018. It was absolutely fantabulous! We booked again in July 2018. Our rooms were extremely hot and humid. We asked our host to turn on the AC, which she did, for a very short time. It was still too hot to sleep. I looked at our listing again, and saw that air conditioning was listed as "not included" in the amenities. I had not seen that before we booked, so people, please check the amenities for AC, if it's unusually hot where you are going. I then checked other reviews on Airbnb for others in the same predicament. Many wrote that they had got portable AC units. So I went out to get one. It cost $358 and only cooled one room. But we did not want to complain further, as I felt it was my own fault for not reading everything on the listing. My 2 year old granddaughter being with us, we all stayed in one area, as the AC unit did not cool the 2nd bedroom. We sufficed, but I still had to figure what to do with the AC unit afterwards.......?! That's another story..... After a week, we checked out, and within the hour, received a message from our host, asking for $50 more for using the AC unit. What?! After reading Airbnb regulations, turns out the host cannot add additional fees once the customer has paid, so we did NOT have to pay the extra $50. *Lesson learned: Read the listing thoroughly before booking! It would have saved us a lot of hassle and money! Plus, as much as we loved Eva's, it's way too awkward to stay there again. *Note: Eva had entered our room without any mention to us (while we were gone). The room is listed as private and locked.
