Read moreOur choice of Wheat and Water for our rehearsal dinner was based on our friend's rehearsal dinner a year ago. However, our own experience was a series of disappointments that left us completely underwhelmed.
From the outset, the signs were troubling—our interaction was marred by inconsistent communication, which culminated in an alarming miscommunication about our event's cancellation due to a 'computer issue.' This should have been a red flag about the attention to detail and organizational proficiency of W &W.
The evening itself did not fare better. We were promised use of a TV for a photo display, an aspect of the dinner we were looking forward to. Unfortunately, the staff member in charge was unable to set it up, and their impaired state was not only unprofessional but also a hindrance to our event's success.
The food and drink, which should be the cornerstone of any dining event, were underwhelming. The drinks did not meet our expectations, and the salads were served without utensils—a basic necessity that was overlooked. Furthermore, the dessert—a special order from Extraordinary Desserts—was forgotten, depriving us of a planned sweet conclusion to our meal.
For the price paid and the significance of the event, the level of service was sorely lacking. It's with regret that I must report our experience as not just underwhelming but distressing. It's crucial for future patrons to be aware that despite its reputation, our experience at Wheat and Water was far from satisfactory.
I can only hope that this feedback is taken as an opportunity for Wheat and Water to improve and deliver the service that one would expect from such an establishment, ensuring no other family's special occasion is...
Read moreI went to this restaurant twice before reviewing. Pizza was burnt the first time so I wanted to give it a second chance. I really wanted to love this spot because it's walking distance from my house and I like to support businesses in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, I was disappointed again on my second visit. Food is always my number one criteria so we'll start there. Ordered the meatball pie- Dude, where's my meatball? There's maybe a total of one very tasty meatball crumbled over this small pie. The red sauce was watery and the pesto was very oily- I know it's an oil based sauce but too separated. I found 4 garlic cloves on one slice. I love garlic but that was overpowering. Lots of shishito peppers which were bitter and also overwhelmed the other flavors. They have a badass pizza oven but still manage to either burn or leave the crust soggy. Our pie today was not quite crispy on the bottom and had to eat with fork and knife. The top crust was tasty. They have amazing and high quality ingredients but the menu is limited and execution was lacking. Our waiter was very friendly. But he went to make change for us and it took a while. We were sitting right next to the register so not sure where he went? Guess to the bar but not sure why. Also- my menu was smeared with chocolate sauce or something. That was no biggie, but not impressive either. Good beer selection. I'd stop in again for a drink but probably not food. The decor is lovely with lots of wood and a rustic yet...
