Overall: I am very let down about this place for our multi day stay. The website for this place was most likely taken when the place was first put up. I read lots of other comments about the place not being nice AFTER I booked the rooms. I wanted to hope that they were a bit critical or just had a one-off bad experience, but I am sad to say that our family also did not have a good experience here.
The Bad: We had lots of outside noise in our room, you could hear what people outside were saying and they could also hear us. You could hear noise from the other rooms if you had neighbors and if they were loud enough which we prayed they would not be. One night someone threw a party in the room next to us which kept us and the kids up most of the night. The gap in our door I'm sure was the cause of that (see pictures). The water pressure was very low, and I felt like the faucet in the shower was not working right cause the water still coming out the bottom faucet when the top shower head was turned on. Not sure why that was happening. The hot water would sometimes randomly get very hot and then go back to normal a few moments later which was very odd. We had no room service the entire time of our week stay which was surprising. None of the trash cans had bags in them. There were no warm blankets to sleep with. They were all thin sheets and one thin blanket. It would have been nice to have a comforter on the beds. The room in general was VERY small and hard to navigate and have space for 2 adults and 2 kids in the double queen suite. They only left 2 bath towels (also very small and thin) and 2 hand towels even though our reservation was for 2 adults and 2 kids. The elevator was very slow plus very small and the access to the elevator was also tight and small. The balcony part where you walk to your room was a bit scary at times if multiple people are on it because it will flex up and down (you can feel it when multiple people are walking).
The Good: We only had one interaction with requesting more towels, but they were very nice with that request and was pleased to bring us more towels. There was always parking available AFTER you get passed the gate with your key card. The access of where you are at vs popular and fun places to go is great!
In conclusion: Based on my limited experience with the employees I feel that they try to do their best but unfortunately the place itself and whoever is making the calls on upkeeping it and paying for repairs is doing a horrific job and the employees have to put up with the disappointed customers. I feel bad in the sense that they are unable to really fix much of anything and really the owner needs to step in and really revamp this place or take...
Read moreThis is by far the worst motel that I have ever stayed at period. Just like most of the other reviewers have stated, the website pictures are very deceiving and made me think that it was going to be nice (spoiler alert it wasnt). Upon walking into the room there was a light switch that didn't do anything and then we immediately noticed the horrible smell of stale smoke and mold that they try to mask with cheap cleaning products. After stumbling over to the lamp to turn on the light we noticed that it was completely corroded and the outlet built into it was actually broken and posed a major electrical safety issue. The light revealed dirty bedding and pillow cases along with yellow smoke stained walls and doors. Everything metal in the room was badly corroded including the fire sprinklers on the ceiling. The floor was dirty, the shower was dirty and had hairs in it. The one chair in the room was disgusting and looked like it had been picked up out of a dumpster. The other people staying there were super trashy and left clothes and garbage in front of their rooms blocking the catwalk. There was a small safe that didn't even work and the window sheer was missing so it impossible to have privacy and natural light at the same time. There were holes in the walls. The blanket had cigarrete burns in it. The headboard looked like a mouse chewed it up. The lamp shade looked like someone punched it, and the floor literally had holes and felt like walking on a trampoline because it was so water damaged. In addition to all this, it smelled like marijuana when we left the room and the people hanging around the area looked like severe drug addicts. Spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere else. You've...
Read moreI'll start by saying the staff were all great, very nice and friendly. But I was very disappointed in this experience, and I wish I had read reviews first. I'll also say that I routinely stay in motels and inexpensive hotels, because I genuinely don't mind a bare bones experience when I'm out and about and just need a place to sleep. Unfortunately, this will mostly be negative. I chose Riverleaf because it was the cheapest option in the area I wanted to stay in. But the hotel itself is in a very shady area of Hotel Circle. No view whatsoever, it backs up to a park. There were homeless people hanging around the parking lot with all of their belongings, and people I'm not sure were actually guests kind of just wandering around and using metal detectors and working on cars. I did not feel safe as a solo traveler, as the only stairs and elevator were a good distance from my room and required me to walk through dark, somewhat hidden places to get to and from the parking lot. The property is clearly old and run-down and not kept up - there is paint peeling and uneven ground in the walkways, some areas smelled like garbage and excrement. My room was not much better. Peeling paint, chipped wood on side tables, overused outlets that didn't really work well, what looked like mold on the ceiling of the bathroom, something black in the tub, the bedding and towels were threadbare. The pillows were the cheapest I think I've ever slept on. The only upside was that it was in an area of San Diego that I needed to stay in, and it was close to a lot of attractions like Old Town and Balboa Park. If you want a decent experience, please consider spending a little more money on accomodations. In this instance, you get less than...
