Worst RV park I've been to. I'm currently going through a military PCS, and have been staying in a travel trailer for the past few months. I've moved around to a few different places. (Due to heavy summer bookings) The first impression pulling up to the location, is that you are in between the 5 freeway and the railroad. Yes, the train is extremely loud at 2 am when it comes barreling through. We parked our trailer in our assigned spot, and then were directed to go to the office to pay dues and get registered and familiarized with the property. We walked into the office and were greeted by Nora. By greeted, I mean stared at RUDELY. She sharply asked if the trailer we were staying in was going to be "long term, because it appears soo small." I immediately felt embarrassed and judged because I didn't believe anything was wrong with what we are staying in. (2006 25' Cub trailer). I explained my situation with the military and how this option was far better than paying triple the price for hotel for our last few months in San Diego. My husband and I returned to pay the remaining balance on our reservation a few days later only to be approached again by how small our trailer was. By this point we have seen the other rigs at the park, and ours by far was not the smallest. At that point we had a few questions about the bathrooms. Women gain access by a key card. Same with the men, except she told us that the males restroom remained unlocked during the day and at night you will need a key card. (BIG FAT LIE). My husband drives for Lyft and comes home pretty late at night. He went to shower and refresh before going to sleep around 2:00 am, and the bathroom was still left unlocked for anyone to just come in. (The park has a homeless problem whom sneak up into the park at night. The maintenance men have no problems sharing this info.) My husband went into the shower to discover three piles of human feces in the showers. So, not only do men have to have a fear of anyone just sneaking into the restroom, you'll also need to check your shower to be sure its free of human feces. Our time at Santa Fe was coming to an end, and my husband just wanted to inquire about staying for our last few weeks in San Diego because we've become so tired of moving our rig every week or so. He walked up to the office with baby, dog, and laundry in tow to the office to ask Nora if there were any openings for the remaining weeks of September. For the first five minutes he stood in the office while Nora ignored his presence and continued a conversation with the Maintenance man regarding the taste of the coffee he made. After finishing her conversation he POLITELY asked if she could check for any available sites for the day we were supposed to check out. First she told him that she didn't have time to help him right now, and then she continued to tell him that she doesn't believe there are any open spots available and to come back later on.
I can continue to rant on for probably a few thousand more characters. But, I will leave my review as this.. The residents of Santa Fe are really nice and everyone seems to get along. No one at the park likes Nora for obvious reasons. I hope this review reaches the right people because the people who are working in that office are horrible. Blair to be included. Those people make you feel like scum. The sites are not cleaned after someone leaves and the concrete you park your rig on looks like the San Andreas fault line. It is not SAFE for your children if you have any! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY...
Read moreI stayed at this park for two months and found it to be very satisfactory! The laundry rooms, bathrooms, clubhouse, pool/jacuzzi area and gym were all always VERY clean, neat and stocked with supplies! The noise at first was a little annoying as it is sandwiched between the 5 and a railroad track, but after a few nights I was able to drown out the noise and sleep like a baby. The staff I did encounter were all very friendly and helpful. The campground for being a long stay campground didn't attract the riff raff that some others that I have stayed at do. In fact the majority of the long term people that I met were all very friendly and courteous.
The reason for the loss of the star is I did have two issues, one I am sure the campground cannot control and that is no open fires. The other was the mens bathroom lock was broken the entire time of my stay so the bathrooms were closed between 10pm and 6am. This wouldn't have been a problem, but I am a big dude and my shower is to small for me unless it's an emergency situation and my work schedule sometimes didn't allow me to get "home" while it was open. I showered at my gym a lot the past two months. LOL! Not a huge deal for me, others it may have been.
Other than those two minor complaints, I would absolutely stay here again for an extended time. I am actually sad that my last night was last night and I am going to be spending my days and nights elsewhere for awhile!
EDIT: As I read some of the other reviews, I wanted to give you my take on the negatives I read. There is Wi-Fi and although it may not be the greatest or fastest, it is free and it does the job for checking emails and Facebook. Not one campground have I been in within the past year has Wi-Fi that will allow heavy streaming of say Netflix or Apple TV.
The campground may be tight, but if you are experienced driver of your RV or Trailer, this is actually a very easy campground to pull into and back right in. I backed my trailer up on my own, only having to rely very briefly on someone to keep me from backing into a tree. They are angled just perfectly for backing into.
Parking is on the street just outside the park, HOWEVER, you will only need that if you have more than one vehicle. This place is also one of the few that do not charge you to keep your extra vehicle onsite. There are about 10 spots (that I never saw full) around the campground used for visitor parking. If they are full, the walk is short to the majority of the campground spots.
Noise? Your between the freeway and a railroad track. Get used to it, I did. I got very used to it after about 3 nights. There were a couple nights where the trains did blow their whistles, however that is not the campgrounds fault. Other than that, the campground is very quiet after 8pm and it never got that loud prior to that. There are no wild parties or college kids drinking and playing beer pong all day and night. The average age of the people at this campground can't be much...
Read moreWe stayed here for a week while passing through the San Diego area. Upon arrival for check-in, we were immediately told a site and then the staff member walked away. The first site that we were given was in an awful location with a pole right in front of it making it impossible to back into without hitting the pole or tree. We were given an option of three other sites when we complained, which were a better fit for us. The sites are relatively tight but they are partially paved with gravel on the sides. There was no parking throughout the campground for our secondary car and we were told the parking spots located at the bottom of the grounds were for long term to rent. There was street parking but it was located outside of the campground, which was not a great option for us, so we maneuvered our cars around to fit both within our site. The park did have a sewage smell each morning but it seemed to dissipate throughout the day. The resort location is great with it being centrally located, so it definitely made it easy to get around to anywhere and was right by the bay and beaches. The resort did offer all necessary amenities (laundry, bathrooms/showers, game room, etc), although at times the bathrooms were not the cleanest. My husband reported that the men's bathroom never had hot water for his shower and all of the air vents were caked with dust/dirt; whereas with my experience in the women's showers, I always had hot water but the showers were not the cleanest and often times the toilets were clogged. The campground itself had sites that were full hook ups and the campground mostly consisted of long term people. I hardly ever saw anyone use the pool, maybe twice during the week of our stay. The hot tub did not look like it had been taken care of with the water being green. The campground is right beside interstate 5 so it is extremely noisy all hours of the day and there is also the metro link commuter train that goes right behind it, which you will hear at all hours of the day. There was WiFi offered but for purchase. During our stay, there was an email sent out regarding the security of the campground and theft- however we did not experience anything bad during our stay. There were minimal grassy areas for walking our dogs but there is a mulched (no grass), fenced off dog area that you can walk your dog up and down (it is not completely fenced in so I would not call it a dog park or dog run area). They do offer bags for your dogs bathroom needs, but only the one by the office was filled with bags during our stay. Our stay was not terrible, but I would prefer going somewhere nicer next time we are in the...
