Dr. Michael and the staff at Rose Canyon are just GREAT people who provide high quality animal care. I have a 10-yr old dog I fostered for a rescue -- the rescue group knew he'd need major dental work before they pulled him from the shelter -- they discovered pretty quick they had bitten off a little more than they could chew with this guy (no pun intended, lol) and were too cash poor to get his much needed dental surgery done. The cost estimates were $1500 to $2000! I needed to schedule the dog for his post-shelter exam and had been told where to take him by the resuce, but I'd had a very positive experience with Rose Canyon and Dr. Michael with my doxie when we first moved to SD so I figured why not take him there! During the free exam I asked Dr. Michael to quote the dental work. His quote was $600 --- less than half of ANYONE else. The rescue still struggled even with even the reduced cost. Concerned this dog might not get what he needed, I decided to make him a permanent member of the family and just adopt him so I could be sure he got what he needed. To help me out Dr. Michael allowed me to break the bill down into 2 payments of $300 each. When the dental surgery was done the bill came in at $450 instead of the quoted $600 and I was thrilled ... and recognized it was a wonderful favor for me and this little dog. I wrote the check for $225 and asked what date I should put on the second check and just cried when I found out that first payment of $225 was going to be the total. Only $225! A 50% "discount" was on the invoice. What other vet can you find with a heart that big? The follow up appointment earlier this week shows Foster (yes that's his name now) is healing well from the dental surgery (11 extractions and a oral/nasal fistula). The little dog now excudes energy! Removing those rotten teeth did wonders for him. His life would have been much less without that dental surgery. The truth is simple. Dr. Michael is a skilled vet with skilled staff and they just happen to have amazingly big hearts. Big enough to truly care for their animal patients. I have been a loyal client of Rose Canyon for over a decade, started back when it was under the care of Dr. Michael. I had a friend who was a vet tech at the time. My journey with this clinic has been nothing short of wonderful. Initially, I had a deep connection with Dr. Rocha, particularly because we shared a passion for our feline companions. When I extended my fur family to include a pug, the team at Rose Canyon continued to provide excellent care. They even managed to schedule my pug's spaying during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

But let me take a moment to praise the remarkable transition that has taken place at Rose Canyon under the current team. These ladies have gone above and beyond in terms of educating me about all my animals. Their knowledge about our beloved fur babies is truly impressive, and the advice they offer is top-notch. I can't express how much I appreciate their commitment to enhancing the well-being of our pets.

In particular, I'd like to give a special shoutout to Dr. Nichole Svehla, who has been a constant source of support and guidance throughout my visits. Her expertise when it comes to our beloved pets is truly exceptional. Another standout feature of the new management is their emergency service. For a reasonable fee of I think $85, you can be seen on the same day, which is a godsend, especially when VCA might not always be accessible.

To sum it up, I can't emphasize enough how much I adore this veterinary clinic. The care, knowledge, and accessibility they provide are second to none. Rose Canyon under the current team is a true gem, and I wholeheartedly recommend their services to fellow pet owners. Love, love,...

I cannot begin to THANK the entire staff of Rose Canyon and let them know how grateful we are saving our dog Grettle's life. First, I wanted to say we heard that Dr. Micheal has retired and we are so excited for him and he could not have found a better fit for his legacy. The new vets are so awesome! Especially Dr. Nicole Selva. Our dog stopped eating and when we called they were completely booked, but they were able to fit us right in for an emergency exam, it literally saved Grettle's life. Within 30 min we received the blood tests with the shocking news our dog was in kidney failure due to infection. Our dog has struggled with bladder infection since she had emergency back surgery 10 years ago, but this was still a shock. They were able to get an ultrasound to confirm the diagnosis the same day and we hospitalized Grettle there for 2 days of intensive treatments. The entire team was so amazing for always giving us updates, and they loved on our little pup so much while she was there. So grateful for that. On Sunday, since they closed, we had to take Grettle to a 24hr huge hospital for day 3 of kidney treatment and ended up seeing an Internal specialist - she literally said Rose Canyon had done everything we needed. The blood work returned to normal and she is now eating and doing amazing. She will be on meds for another month, and we already have follow ups scheduled with Rose Canyon. The respect and professionalism at Rose Canyon was incredible and we are so thankful to everyone on the Team. Without their fast care and treatments our lives would look a lot different right now.
