We stayed here for three nights in Dec/Jan. ||We checked in late and when we got in the room, I saw that it was absolutely filthy: hairs in the tub, hairs and dust and webs in the bathroom floor corners. When I took off my shoes and walked across the bedroom I felt and saw that my feet were covered in grains of dirt, hairs and other grossness. To make matters worse, there was an overwhelming toxic odor of bug spray. ||It was too late to switch rooms so we opened the windows (freezing!) We also couldn’t get the TV to work. There was a cable box precariously balanced on top of the TV and it had a half-inch of dust on top. We called the manager (who was a very pleasant and responsive guy) who came up to fix the TV and he also brought us extra pillows. We told him about the filth and he promised someone would come clean the next morning at 10:30. ||Could you sleep in a dirty room? I can’t. It was a terrible night. ||The next morning we left at 10 so they could clean. I left a note asking them to please clean the floors, especially around the bed, as well as everything else. I also asked that no more additional bug spray be sprayed in our room as I’d rather take my chances with bug that with inhaling DEET all night. ||We came bank at 11:30. The room had not been touched. I called the manager. He said he would get someone in the spotlessly clean the room that afternoon. He seemed like a nice guy so we were asking nicely but the situation was very, very bad. ||We came back around 7pm. The maid had brought in towels but had CLEANED NOTHING. Another night sleeping in filth. ||I called the next morning and said: if it’s not possible for the housekeeping staff to clean the room, could I get a broom? I just couldn’t take another night in that level of filth. ||He said that some was definitely coming to clean the room that day. ||I asked about the bug spray. He told me that they only spray for bugs is a customer requests it. ||I’ll let that sink in. ||So we were on the third floor but the entire second floor was a fog of bug spray, like someone was crop dusting down there. Horrific to imagine why. ||We returned that afternoon. The floors had wet spots from being mopped. I felt so relieved. Then I sat on the bed and noticed the area between the nightstand and the bed. ||If you look at the pictures it’s the one shot with a wood grain floor. ||The entire floor was still incredibly filthy with hair, dirt, bug parts and hid knows what else. Apparently they didn’t sweep but just mopped, which did absolutely nothing to improve the situation. ||Add to all this that the walls are super thin and you hear everything in the other rooms all night. On our last night we heard a kitten meowing for dear life in the room across ours. ||There were some good things: |The location is ideal. The muni stops right in front of the hotel, the beach is very close and there’s a popular coffee shop next door. ||There is also free parking in a somewhat protected lot. ||If you have your own sleeping bag, travel with a broom, and don’t mind breathing bug spray, you might be fine here.||We travel often and stay in youth hostels sometimes. This hotel is still by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed. ||PS - Oh and the photo of the door marked A? That’s how you will access the stairs that lead to your room. It looks like a door to a dirty storage closet and when you open it you will be hit in the face with a blast of...
Read moreStaying here for my second night and let me tell you the RUG does not match the drapes. Spectacular website, I didn't check it, yesterday, but found the deal through HotelTonight for under $150 a night. I was in a bit of a pinch so I booked it, and arrived here before 10pm, after a representative (gratefully) called me and told me I HAD to be here before 11pm. Honestly, I wish I could rate this place better as it has great potential, and a few nice accents, but is clearly not well managed. When I checked in - I found it very difficult to understand the 'front desk' man who walked through a closed door to attend to his post disgrunateld because I had knocked for him to help me check in. Apparently, I have now gathered he is just the son of the Father who owns the place. This morning after a bit of hard bargaining I was able to get a slightly better rate as I said, but honestly it's kind of a flea bag place in a great location, I mean epic location, so overall generally depressing vibe. I even just tried to get some ice this morning, guess what, BROKEN ICE MACHINE, so I pointed this out to the front fellow or whatever, stuck on his phone, and then I think his Dad helped him get someone in later today to fix it. I'm here for another night, and was looking to stay much longer, but I figure this review will likely kill any chance of that or whatever, so on to the next one as they say. I do hope they get MORE bookings overall though. Perhaps someone else could continue to teach the front boy about how to run a motel. Kindly, your 125 September guest.
PS. Forgot to mention he literally didn't even write the wifi password on my key booklet so I didn't have wifi for the nightafter I got into the room reasonably tired after a long 3 week...
Read moreStayed 9 nights. Room floors were dirty, readjusted sheets on day 8 and found a big stain on mattress pad. Looked like menustral blood honestly... Front desk people were nice, yes, but didn't do anything we asked until the 3rd or 4th time. (Fresh towels, extra blankets/pillows etc.) My girlfriend ended purchasing our own Toilet paper because it was less of a hassle for us.. we spent over 200 a night and got a bed, no service, no cleaning, but the view was great. I think our room got cleaned twice the whole time..
Room looks nice at first, but in 20 mins you'll realize its dirty. Walls are thin, can hear people talking and walking down the hall. Ask for a quiet room and the public bus isn't that bad.
Safety is a concern. The door to the rooms requires a card key to get in. However, it's never completely shut and always cracked open for anybody to walk in. Not reassuring when my girlfriend got chased by a homeless guy with a windshield wiper as she tried to park on the street due to limited parking. 25 rooms or so and roughly 15 parking spaces.
I give it 2 stars because of location. Public Transportation right outside. Walk to beach in 2 mins. Good restaurants with Plenty to eat in area. Safeway 10 mins away. (Small fridge in room)... make sure its clean first.
Dont expect anything fancy, it all looked good online and when we first arrived . By day 3 we regretted staying here, but we stuck it out and will never be returning. If I do return to SF I'd look into paying the extra 100 a night and staying in the Fisherman Wharf area. Better location...
