Ocean Beach is a flat expanse of sand next to the ocean. It is simple. There is ample parking, warning signs about riptides, but no lifeguard towers or lifeguards on duty.
When I came by, there were a few volleyball games going. The tide seemed to be low at the time. It was a bit windy and cold for the typical SoCal beach experience, but it is good for sunset watching. Some people improvised some fire pits. There were no concrete fire rings installed.
