Okay, let me begin by saying I am a high maintenance woman. Real high maintenance! I needed a new bed and mattress and decided to return to Mancini's Sleepworld after a bedroom set/mattress purchase in 2013 from the Colma store, as I was very pleased with their customer service back then. I since moved to San Mateo, so I visited the San Mateo store for my potential purchase. I was greeted by Rodney Watt, the store manager, and Cameron. Both offered to help me find my new bed and mattress. They were very helpful and knowledgeable, but moreover, very courteous and kind. I purchased a bed and mattress that day. Well, it didn't take many nights before I realized my mattress was too soft, and, a mattress will only get softer the more you sleep on it. So, me and my high maintenance self went in and told them I needed to exchange my mattress for a much firmer one. There were no annoyed faces, only what every customer is hoping for! Rodney assured me they wanted me to be perfectly happy with my purchase and my search began again. My new mattress was delivered Saturday and I have slept in pure comfort for the past two nights. While I did need to spend more for a better quality mattress, it was money well worth spending! A quality mattress is an item that, as I soon learned, is very important for quality sleep and rest, and overall wellness. Their customer service and delivery personnel are also outstanding! They are careful, courteous, and arrive when they say they will. I highly recommend this company, and the San Mateo store in particular, for your bedroom/mattress purchase. All interactions and transactions with Rodney and his team exceeded my high maintenance expectations. My wife and I decided it was time for a new mattress and figured Mancini’s would be a good place to purchase one. We were not disappointed! The sales woman, I believe her name was Danielle, was very helpful, professional, and attentive. We checked 4 different brands of mattresses before making our decision, and she was very patient with us as we went back and forth between our last 2 choices. Ended up getting an Aireloom mattress, very high end, and we thought maybe a little pricey. However, when we got it delivered, which is a free service they offer, and then slept it for the first time… well I don’t want to say it changed our lives, but I can tell you that I haven’t slept so good in years and that the usual aches and pains we would normally wake up with were non existent. I actually found it hard to get out bed in the morning because I was so comfortable! We were on the fence about getting new pillows and Danielle said to wait a few days to make sure the mattress was comfortable, that way you’ll know if the old mattress was causing discomfort or if it was the pillows. She said we could come back and get pillows later and she would give us a discount. We ended up going back for pillows and a mattress cover 2 weeks later. I walked into Mancini’s on Memorial Day just to try out some beds—truly, just a casual “let me lay on 14 mattresses and ghost” type of visit. Mattress shopping is usually a fever dream of sponsored reviews, mysterious features, and buzzwords like “cooling foam gel cloud zone”—so I was skeptical.

Then Anthony approached me. I’m not the “let’s talk” shopper, but he read the room like a pro—friendly, low-pressure, and just genuinely interested in helping me find something that worked for me. He gave me space, which was exactly what I needed.

Then came Neal, the store manager and mattress whisperer. I mentioned a bed I liked but was worried about the online horror stories. He broke it all down calmly and clearly—where the reviews came from, what was legit, and what didn’t apply to me. It felt more like talking to a very knowledgeable friend than someone trying to sell me something.

Long story short: I went from “just browsing” to “take my money.” I left with a mattress, luxury cover, adjustable base with all the bells and lumbar whistles, and a sense of deep satisfaction (and soon, sleep). Neal even gave me a deal that made it all feel like a win.
