Deluxe Inn/Mini Storage — Hotel in Sarasota

We needed a place to stay for a couple of nights while visiting family in Sarasota/Bradenton Beach, Florida. We drove around and every motel we went into was full. There was some kind of marathon going on that weekend so hence no vacancies. Finally went into a Quality Inn and they were full, but recommended this place. They said if nothing else, it was clean. The guy was right about that. Though clean, the room smelled like someone's damp basement. The smell improved once we had the a/c running a couple of days, but not entirely. Towels were threadbare and no toiletries provided whatsoever. The bathroom was a joke. The tiniest countertop I've ever seen and no place to put your things except under the sink. (Good showerhead though and fridge and microwave and countertop came in handy.) We lived out of our bags as I didn't like the look of the dresser (looked like it was found on someone's front lawn). No hangers. No nothing. We ended up staying a third night, but no discount in her rate was given. We could have gone elsewhere, but I just couldn't be bothered packing everything up to move down the road. We really felt taken advantage of here. In hindsight I wish we had continued to look around for something else. We were hardly ever there as we stayed with family during the daytime at a cottage in Bradenton Beach, but I hated coming back to this motel each night. Rough looking area too. ...

I had to go out and buy some more toilet paper on Friday when I checked in had to use the overhead ceiling light went away on Saturday and came back and my key was disconnected from my room. Rooms are ok seen a few roaches. Hope you don't need a service animal with you, they are worried about what others say and think about it and that they may leave a bad review. The older couple is kind of rude and unfriendly. The son however is helpful. They wanted until a half hour before check out to tell us we couldn't pay for another week so therefore kept our deposit.
