Worst experience at a Comfort Inn ever. Worst Hotel manager ever. Very few working smoke detectors. We walked into the room and immediately noticed there was no smoke detector in the ceiling. The smoke detector was setting on the bureau beside the TV. We attempted to call the front desk but there was no cord in the handset of the phone. I found the cord and plugged it in but it would not stay unless I held it. I reported the smoke detector to the front desk. The ladies at the front desk were not concerned and said no worries it will be fine. (they acted like this was a common occurrence) We knew there were other smoke detectors in the hall, we were adjacent to the fire escape, and this was a newer hotel so we felt we were reasonably safe. The issues continue. We began to settle. As we were putting our toiletries in the bathroom we notice the tub. The caulking ALL the way around the tub was in serious disrepair and covered with black mold. I immediately went to the front desk and asked for another room. I wanted to speak with the manager but I overheard the desk workers tell another customer that the manager was not available. They informed me that there were no other rooms available. They were sold out. So we tried to find another hotel. Everything in the area was booked. So now it is between staying in our car for the night or staying in this room. The linen appeared to be clean at first glance and there did not appear to any signs of infestation so we decided to stay and not use the shower. We took a sponge bath. As the night progressed we found a major blood stain on one of the pillows and one of the sheets, the television did not work, the toilet was not that clean, there was black hair all over the floor that stuck to our socks, and a stick substance all over the phone night stand. Since the ladies from the previous night were no help I wanted to report this to someone else in the morning. We had to check out at 5AM to be at our event and there was no one to be found at the front desk at 5AM. I already knew the manager would not be in until Monday (not until 9AM) so I waited until Monday to call and speak with Muhammad. Usually issues like this can be resolved by speaking with the manager. Not in this case. I must tell you that Muhammad is the most belligerent manager I have ever spoken with. He began by telling me that I should have just left and before I could even get in about the issues he just went into a tirade of excuses and blaming me for not leaving. I could not get a word in edgewise. I could go into detail but I'm not sure I have enough space here. Bottom line I would have left but I did not want our family to have to sleep in the car. This is a newer hotel that has been very poorly managed. When I contacted the Scarborough Fire Department on Monday 6/21/21 I found out that this hotel had just been cited on Friday 6/18/21 for multiple issues with their fire alarm system and fire detectors that were not working. The manager of this hotel was told not to rent rooms that did not have a working smoke detector....
Read moreStayed here for two nights and wished we didn't. Partly our fault for not reading the reviews beforehand and just booking the place. To say this hotel is uncared for is an understatement. A sign to wear masks when entering is posted on the entrance, yet when we walked in not a single staff member was wearing one. The lobby is dark, dingy, and dirty. Woman at the front desk told us to go check if our room was ready as we were about 15 minutes early. I don't think the elevator has been cleaned, ever. When we get to our room, the door looks as if someone tries to break into it at some point. It locked, but there was a huge gap between the wall and the door and if someone looked inside they would be able to see in. The bathroom door was also nearly broken. There was a half used roll of toilet paper, and no towels in the bathroom. The bathroom floor was grimy in the corners, and the tub was rusted and growing mould in some places. It seemed as if the only thing they cleaned was the beds. The floors were gross, and there was coffee and water residue on the coffee maker. Only half the buttons on the tv remote worked. I called the front desk to have towels brought up, but was told I had to go downstairs to get them. Ok, that's fine. I had to call again later in the day as we found the hairdryer was rusted and broken. Had to go downstairs again to get a replacement that also looked like it had never been cleaned, with other peoples hair in the filter. Called again the next day for more toilet paper, again I was told I had to come down and get it. When I asked why, I was told there was only one person here and the housekeepers leave at 3pm. They also didnt clean out oue room when we were away. I asked why and was told It was because housekeepers don't clean while guests are staying due to covid. The "breakfast" is a joke. My partner ate a hard boiled egg and immediately spit it out. Definitely had been made many days before. The cereal is in jars (not covid safe), and the waffle maker was broken. If you're going to try and be careful with covid by not allowing housekeepers in, you need to have the rest of the hotel reflect the same level of care for both the guests and the staff. Absolutely nothing about this place seemed clean. It seems they are using the excuse of covid to just not deliver care. Only stay here if you literally have no other options. Next time we will happily pay more for...
Read moreOur experience at this hotel was quite shocking. We’ve stayed at the one in North Conway before and it was the opposite experience from this one. It started when we checked in and went in our room. We were given the wrong room. I booked a king bed suite and was given two queen beds. I went to the front desk to tell them and the guy kept stating that the system was saying I needed 2 queen beds. I showed him my confirmation email stating it was a king bed suite and he insisted I was to get 2 queen beds. He eventually changed my room and gave me a king bed suite that I had originally booked. I’m pretty sure the last time the elevator was inspected was 10 years ago because that elevator is so unsafe. We ended up using the stairs because we didn’t want to get stuck in it, especially since there was no air flow in there and felt like 90 degrees in there. The inspection date in the elevator was hiding, so that was another red flag. The room itself was fine but the bathroom was another story. I took a shower and the water was going down the drain VERY SLOW. The water was above my ankles while showering. I’m also 8 months pregnant so that was unsafe getting out of it. I had been out of the shower for 15 minutes and the tub was still draining the water. There was a weird big stain in the carpet that felt weird when you stepped on it. The doors to the rooms slam really loud if you don’t hold onto the door to close it. So imagine you’re in a deep sleep and your neighbors around you go to breakfast for 6am and you jump out of bed because you heard the slam from their doors. Speaking of breakfast, the only good thing was the waffles you can make yourself. The eggs were gross that were probably frozen and just heated up in a microwave. My son wanted some cereal but all they was Raisin Bran, which is not a kid friendly type of cereal. The hash browns were not even cooked and tasted weird. The odd thing about the pool was that you had to go to the front desk to obtain towels, but there was no bin or anything to put them in when done in the pool room so we just brought them up to our room. Why not just leave the towels in the pool room for guests to grab? Overall, this hotel is in a good location but needs an entire uplift. There were other guests who had the same experience as us, including how they felt very unsafe with...
