I have eaten here several times. Always enjoyed the tuna roll and the sweet potato roll. I have eaten only tuna as sushi for years. Never have I sent it back, or questioned it. Yesterday at lunch (Dec 3rd) I order the usual tuna roll. First I noticed bland pale pink color, second it was very mushy. I ate 2 pieces and had to send it back. I ordered the sweet potato roll in place. I mentioned it to the manager and he later came out and said it’s a different part of the tuna, and that’s why the color and texture. Later that evening I started vomiting profusely, now almost 12 hours later still vomiting. Running a fever. Did a search on pale mushy tuna and it said it’s bad tuna and should not be consumed. It should be a deeper pink and not mushy. Ok. I’ve also been vomiting dark green bile and looked that up can be a sign of food poising. I called today to just let them know, spoke to Jay the manager whom I’ve always had good communication with, told him how sick I was and what I had read, and he informed me there was no way it was from the tuna. They only use reputable sources. I believe that, but things can get over looked, and then proceeded to argue with me so much so I could not get a word in. He did not one time acknowledge that I was absolutely ill and the only thing I ate yesterday was from there. I asked him to at least be warned and maybe not use that piece of fish and he again proceeded to say it’s not the fish. I told him I was going to write a review, he said go ahead, we don’t get bad reviews, and when I asked him to hear me out as he was yelling, then I yelled please listen, I don’t want anyone else sick, he hung up the phone in my ear. Not 1 time even considering my concern. This is why I’m giving a 1 star review. Again, I understand sushi can be risky, but to be completely dismissed and told it’s not their fish that could have done it, and then continued absolutely not wavering, I will not be going back, and I urge you to say something if the fish is off, especially when you’ve eaten it for years. I am in disbelief of treatment by this manager, especially after previous good interactions.

If you live locally, you are very lucky. You can eat here or do take out, like so many others were doing the two times I've eaten here. If you're in the area, it's worth the stop and don't let the car wash fool you. This is some of the best sushi I've had. We have a restaurant close to us with good sushi and my favorite sushi was in Hawaii (almost worth the trip just for that). We had the specialty rolls. We were used to your "normal" size rolls the first time we went and over ordered (5 rolls for 2 people). They were 1.5-2 times the diameter in size of the rolls I usually get in a restaurant. The Rainbow roll I got the second time was normal size to me. What we ordered: Tuna Lovers. Salmon Lovers, Pink Lady, Fire, Rainbow, Fugi Mountain, Dragon, and Pad Thai. The Tuna and Salmon Lovers were delicious but too much together by the end. The only thing not fantastic was the Pad Thai. It was just average. We are looking forward to going back.

We enjoy our dining experience here. We mostly ordered apps. The edamame were sweet and salty, the shumai were stuffed with lots of shrimp, although the outside was cold, maybe due to the dipping sauce. The hamachi-no-kama was fabulous, perfectly cooked and juicy, and nice crispy, seared skin. The spring rolls were crispy and not greasy at all. We also ordered yakiudon. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but we thought the dish a bit too greasy and there weren't as many vegetables as we'd have liked. Maybe try the yakisoba instead next time. Our waiter was very courteous, pleasant, and attentive. Thank you! We thought our tab is reasonable. I would definitely recommend Oishi, and we'll be coming back!

My family and I went to the Oishi Japanese Restaurant in Scarborough, Maine, and it was a food adventure that EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS!!! 😍 From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the warm and friendly servers made us feel SO WELCOMED!!! 🍴 The ambiance was super comfortable, perfect for family dinners, friend hangouts, or even special celebrations!!! 💖 My whole family LOVED this place!

The food was ABSOLUTELY THE HIGHLIGHT of this experience!!!!!! 🍣 The sushi was FRESH TO THE MAX, DELICIOUS TO THE POINT OF EXPLOSION!!! 😋 Every bite let us taste the sophistication of the ingredients and the SUPERB SKILLS of the chefs!!! Every sushi roll was like a work of art, and the flavors were just CRAZY GOOD!!! 😍 As a vegetarian, I had a SUPER FUN time eating at Oishi Japanese Restaurant!!! Came to eat at 6:15 told 25 min. At 7 asked how much longer because there were 2 tables open and cleared but instead they sat us in the bar at a corner table that was next to the table they use as their storage. The waiter finally came over about 715 We immediately ordered a drink and our food.. at 7:45 asked for another drink after having to find our waiter and asking for one, the bar tender told us we drank to fast and he didn’t know we needed something, mind you we didn’t even have water.. 20 min later we received pork pot stickers on the house (I don’t eat pork and was never asked) sat another 15 min and no food, went to the desk and said we were leaving and was told it was on the house.. went to our car and was chased out by the bar tender telling us we had to pay for the drinks, he then was yelling at my husband for not paying as we were walking back into pay (remember they told us it was on the house, but he said she mis understood him) we are now leaving at 8:30 with no food and multiple open tables and forced to pay for sitting with no service.. and then on top of it all as we went to leave (the second time) the bar tender took our ticket and forcefully crumpled it up and threw it at us, this was a tad comical as it just kind of went straight to the ground.. I am so sad to make this review because we received good service the first time (middle of the week and slow).. I have never felt so embarrassed and never treated so poorly!!! We just waited over 2 hours for nothing!!! We had been talking to another couple before being seated that had been there maybe 15 min and when we left they had been served.. I rarely leave bad reviews but this was the worst service I have ever had in any restaurant in my 44 years of life.. EDITED to add After leaving this review I went and read some others and by the response the negative reviews got I see that this is how they treat others also. I would be very careful going into this place, if for some reason your not happy they will embarrass you and make it look like your fault.. I have never been gaslighted by someone in the service industry, well now I can...
