Stayed at the Hilton Garden in North Scottsdale for an event.
The hotel is actually fairly clean, and the lobby area looks pretty updated. The rooms, not so much. They are standard rooms, small tv's... average, nothing special. The only thing was a weird musty smell in the room. I couldn't pin point it, as everything looked clean... just had a stale smell to it.... Again, lobby clean and updated, rooms not so much.
I had dinner at the restaurant the first night, and it took almost 15 minutes to even get a menu, even though there were only four people at the bar, and one other guest eating at a table. The waitress / bartender spent most of her time in the back, unseen.... Food was ok, but all I had was a Chicken Sandwich, so not much that can go wrong there.
In the morning, they have a buffet style breakfast, however it's not free.... so I passed on it. But from what I could see there was a pretty good selection to choose from.
The main issue I had which gives this location a one star is the following. My normal room rate was charged, as I paid in advance being a Rewards Member.... The $30.00 incidental authorization was no issue. The issue is me being charged over $40+ dollars on my card the day I left. Zero explanation for it. I assumed it was the incidental and would drop off, but it never did. Called the hotel and spoke with the front desk in the morning... He looked my charges up and in fact could not see where I was charged that $40+ charge, even though it was on my card. He said he would call back shortly.... Never did! That was my first clue that nothing would be resolved.
I called back the next morning, spoke with the same front desk operator....and he stated that he passed it on to a supervisor and was surprised that she didn't handle it or call me. He said he would just handle it himself and again, call me back shortly. Big surprise... Never called back.
With that being said, now I have to spend extra time out of my day to dispute the charge... even though its small, it the principle. I am not saying that anyone stole my card, or used it maliciously...however somehow, someway a random weird charge was applied to my card on file.
Will "NOT" return to this location...
Read moreThis was a motel 6 experience for 380$/night…. Wow I have never had more drama and annoyance at a hotel in my LIFE.Dont go here, legit you could find a great hotel in this area, save money, and have some luxury.
When my family walked into the rooms at this hotel we were so mad. They are so outdated. The staff at the desk said “well covid delayed our renovations” Okay and? Reduce your prices then cause you aint no 4.5 star experience
Another major red flag and something this hotel should work on is customer service, and communication…. I will say head of house keeping is amazing and the light skin manager (forget her name!) and the nught shift, guy with glasses is so sweet and helpful + night shift long light brown hair girl.
BUT there were some issues with a particular staff who did not address valid concerns properly. Yvonne, staff at desk … was notified about so many concerns my family had, and said she would speak with her manager. She lied and said the hotel was full so nothing could be changed about our room, It sure as heck wasnt… as the manager later confirmed and moved my room. Plus, she never got back to me on what was going to be done about my stay… for a few days. WHEN, I was only there for 6 nights. Then she tried to blame me, that I am the reason house cleaning could not clean my room because i had stuff on my bed.
Basically its like she was purposely doing things to see my reaction. As someone who works in business and management, the customers always right. Stop conversing with them about stuff they did and take you’re own accountability. stop saying youre going to do things and that not getting back to me. Stop lying.
This one person really made my stay horrible, to wear I had to really argue to get something done which is NOT how someone from Canada should enjoy their trip. I should not have to be mad on vacation because of someones lack of care and hospitality. Ridiculous
Dont go here…. Itll save you energy,...
Read more12/8/2017: I would rate the staff really well, especially Dani and the Chef in the mornings in the breakfast area. They are awesome! Very friendly and always smiling and helpful. The rooms are spacious, pretty clean, and comfortable. There is a good choice of food and most of it is made to order and quick. Good amount of breakfast options from omelletes, bacon, sausage, waffles, cereal, toast, bagels, fruits, muffins, yogurts etc. There really isn't much else around the area though or anything to really walk to. A car is needed to get around and I haven't tried the shuttle service. The food is a little over priced for what you get and the quality. The Taco Tuesday Special was kind of a rip off. 3 Tacos for $12. They are basic tacos that can be made at home and in no way are worth $4 a piece. Not even the best authentic Mexican places charge that much per taco. I was really hungry and already her so I ended up paying $24 + tax + tip.
This is my third time staying here, but this time is where I had the worst experience. Yesterday the hotel suddenly ran out of hot water at 7:00 AM. Had to take an ice cold shower which was a rude awakening. Then later after coming back for the evening, I noticed that some of my stuff was just gone and I was really upset. It was some expensive after shave balm and cologne. I immediately talked to the front desk, but nothing could be done because it was so late. He said he would give a message to the manager to ask around if possibly someone accidentally through it away, but the spot where I had the stuff it couldn't have accidentally been through away and the after shave was inside my travel bag. I'm still staying at the hotel and a day later the manager hasn't reach out to me about anything or even possibly replacing my stuff. I will be coming back to stay here in a few weeks, but I have no choice since this place is a block from the office. Next time I will decline cleaning service...
