The positives: Nick at concierge is extremely nice, informative and very helpful. |Breakfast is very good with several good options (not included in room charge) and a bit pricey. Hotel, in general, is overpriced. They give you nothing for free. There is a charge for everything. Breakfast, bottled water, parking ($25.00/night) No complimentary coffee, no flavored water in lobby, no afternoon tea or cookies, There is an overall intense stressful feel at reception with certain employees and managers. Overall it is not a welcoming atmosphere. They gave us a room with several maintenance issues which should never be offered to a guest until they are repaired. Toilet paper holder broken, sink faucet sprayed all over the floor, shower floor was dirty and had several scrapes, damages and scratches all over the shower floor. needs to be repaired as soon as possible, and room should not be given out to any hotel guests (considering they were charging $300.00/night including taxes, plus $25.00/night parking.) Very insulting what the initial assistant manager offered for the inconvenience. Since I had to move rooms at 9:00pm at night, surprisingly, no offer of complimentary water, dinner, breakfast or a nice discount on our overall stay, considering we stayed 4 nights. One of the worst customer service hotels we've stayed at and we have travelled plenty around the world. |Kudos to the young man that offered us a room next door to our defective room which made our move easier, albeit no walk-in shower and no king bed as in our original room. |The hotel has the potential to be outstanding but employees and managers need to be trained in much better customer service, except for Nick at concierge who is the best. |Another very important point: no one mentioned the attributes of the hotel including the rooftop lookout terrace and the pool, whirlpool and firepit, as well as the local trails behind the hotel. Only Nick from concierge at the end of our 4 night stay walked with us to the rooftop terrace, hidden away with no signs how to get there. Sedona is a beautiful town with incredible scenery and limitless hikes. For example, Doe Mountain, Fay Canyon, Devil's Bridge, Chapel of the holy Cross, Brins mesa loop, sugarloaf mountain, bell rock. Important tip: go to top of Doe Mountain and walk the entire loop and Fay canyon, at the end of the hike, rock scramble to the top with incredible views. Great picture taking throughout Sedona and don't forget the Pink Jeep tour - Broken Arrow. Restaurants: Hudson, the Hideaway House, the Vault, great atmosphere and wonderful scenic views. Read moreWe stayed at this property for four nights—three less than we planned—but checked out early due to issues with the property and this hotel’s staff.
Even before we checked in, when I requested a room upgrade offered to Gold Elite members, the response was unwelcoming. I was told “all of our rooms are the same” which I later found out is not true.
We were put in a room and told it had a balcony with a fantastic view only to discover that it was a tiny balcony overlooking the pool maintenance house that put off a humming sound at all hours. Definitely not a place we would sit to enjoy the view.
Also, they have a third-floor observation deck that was highly touted as a place to enjoy the Sedona views but when we made our way there we found a space that looked unkept and cluttered. Just lots of chairs and heaters strewn about and an unmaintained vibe. Not an inviting space either.
As for our room itself, it was basic. Nothing special but it got bad when we didn’t get any housekeeping. Out of the four days we were there we only received a change of towels the first day and no service whatsoever—even after requesting it—for the remaining three days when we finally decided to check out and find a better place down the road.
We had a mountain of towels in the bathroom, sheets that needed changing, and wished we had our own vacuum so we could at least clean up. Also, the bathroom light mysteriously stopped working so we were using it in the dark. Definitely not what we expected for our Sedona vacation.
The property itself is on a beautiful spot surrounded by the red rocks but we couldn’t really enjoy it. We wanted to use the hot tub but it was filthy on our first night and then taped off with yellow warning tape the entire next day. It reopened on our third day there. Also the pool was being filled with cold water so it wasn’t exactly the “heated pool” that was promised. We jumped in and tried but it wasn’t fun. November in Sedona can be chilly.
As for the staff, our main problem was with a manager named Rita who was unwelcoming, unaccommodating, and blatantly rude. She didn’t meet any of our requests, even for basic housekeeping. Worse yet, she was outright confrontational about my service animals who were on my reservation and always travel with me. Also, we wanted to book tours with the concierge but were told she was on vacation for the week.
In conclusion, I would not recommend this property. Sedona has many...
Read moreI booked a room for 2 nights with our Marriott Platinum Elite status through my Bonvoy app. I asked for a quiet location and I asked for the top floor these were my requests. Did I get either one- no. Not only that but when the people above me were shutting their patio rooftop door all night long I had to call repeatedly to the front desk, at 10 then 11 o'clock again after 12 am and each time they told me it was after they left - yet it didn't ever really stop. It was like that both nights there in fact. I really tried to avoid this happing with the request specifics and also by calling in the morning at the airport and along the drive to the property to remind them.
Then on our second night the people next to us had two rooms and they kept going in and out of the room next to us and lets just say the doors there don't just close- they slam shut. The first morning, I did complain to management yet they didn't get back to me after they told me they would call me back. At 4pm I had to call them back because they never called and all they could offer at that time was a first level room, which wouldn't help cause I was already on the second or 3 floors in my area. I'd have to move all our stuff and not likely get anything better for it. I asked for my points back for the night stay because I used points and the hotel said no.
Also to note we came there to hike and had 2 suitcases, backpacks and groceries to take to our room so I asked the front desk if we should drive our car to another doorway or should I have my husband leave me there with everything as he was on a business call. They said for him to leave everything with me because the main entry was the best door for me to get to my room with all my stuff. I asked if they were sure about this because I would be carrying it myself and they said yes. Yet, I walked to other end of the hotel carrying everything myself, it was a huge struggle after our 2 hour drive and the 5 hour flight from 6 AM in the morning (over 7 hours later) there I went. Of course, there was an entry door with parking spots right by our room. I called to let the front desk know this and also let the manager know this the next day as well.
When I got home I called Marriott and complained to them about everything. I had names times of everyone involved and they did nothing for me either so after 25 years I booked my first Hilton vacation last month and it...
