You do not check in, they send you a code to open the lock to get into your room. They do not describe where and in which building this room might be located. We arrived at night with out a flashlight. The rooms are located in buildings off of an alley. We had difficulty finding the building due to the address and business name being blocked by a group of Edison trucks that turned out to be parked on their property. I called and I believe spoke with Joanne. I described where I was including giving her the address of the building across the alley. Her response was " I don't know where you are". She hung up on me and hung up on me again when I called back. Eventually we found the room. Each room has a name and the names are on the wall next to the door. There is no indication on the front sides of the building that face the alley which rooms are in each building so you have to check each one. The room was clean and modern. We did have an issue with the heater not working one night when it got down into the 40's no matter how high we set the thermostat. We did not call due to the response when I first called for assistance and also that other reviewers had mentioned that the owners/managers were in Fresno and one hour away. The Breakfast on week days consisted of waffles, burritos, oat meal, etc in a refrigerator. We returned in the evening for "the reception" but nothing had changed. The building abuts hwy 168 and we discovered the logging trucks...
Β Β Β Read moreThis place is located very close to the little town - I've been to Shaver many times in the summer where I stayed in a rental house - this time I needed a convenient place to stay a couple of nights to Ski at China Peak.
Our room was very clean and nice - had a nice cabin feel but very clean an no clutter. The bathroom was surprisingly big for a hotel room. We didn't spend much time in the room except to sleep but it's perfect for what it is supposed to be.
I've seen lots of reviews knock the breakfast but its a real benefit - they owner has fruits and prepackaged goods, coffee/tea and some cold drinks in all in a self serve style. It's a small place and it's 2025 I don't expect a grandma to walk out of the kitchen with fresh omelette.
But again back to the positives very walkable to the center of Shaver, nice clean rooms and possibly the best option for a hotel style stay near Shaver or China Peak. I got to speak to the owner and he is a very nice guy and the automatic check in and check out process also makes things easy when you want to arrive late or leave early morning like we did.
I am heading back there soon and will defiantly be staying...
Β Β Β Read moreThis is a lovely hotel run by a lovely couple, we enjoyed visiting it a few years ago. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience last weekend and I am happy to delete this review after Mr. and Mrs. Elliott take this review into consideration and act accordingly. I reserved this hotel on May 29th at around 7:00 PM. Hotels.com confirmed the reservation and charged me for two nights. As I read the description the reception is open only until 10:00 PM, I saw that we might be late, so I called the hotel immediately. As nobody answered the phone I left a voice message, clearly stating that we have a reservation and that we may arrive after 10:00 PM and asking them to call me back. We started driving. We called again at around 9:30 PM, again nobody answered the phone. We left another message. Around 9:45 PM when we were close to the hotel, we got a call back saying that they donβt have our reservation and that the hotel is full and they cannot take us. Now hotels.com does not return us the money saying that it was our fault that we did not arrive before 10:00 PM! They need to do something about how they handle...
