I travel a lot and I mean a lot. Rarely do I feel compelled to give a less than stellar review, but I was very unimpressed with this expensive $160 cabin. The entire place felt like more of a communal spot than private places. I almost felt as if I was in a camp back in childhood except paying to stay inside.||On to why I am giving a less than stellar review. On the surface things look quaint and clean but it was quite dingy and even our lysol wipes were brown after cleaning door handles and tables, lamp switches etc... it is covid afterall. To be honest my boyfriend found this cozy cabin and I thought it looked cute and he said the reviews were good so I went with it. Instead of an enjoyable evening’s sleep I hardly slept for three reasons 1) and most important I felt the sheets/bedding weren’t the cleanest. Maybe they were but it was my impression. When my bf inspected the bed, he is actually the less paranoid clean freak, and was like hmm I’m not sure how clean these are or maybe the person just rushed the bed making. There were some hairs (now those could be from the dryer or housekeeping). 2)There were 3 spiders inside and because I am scared of them I also couldn’t sleep feeling as though they may come crawling around in the bed. I am aware it’s a cabin in the woods but I’ve also stayed in many cabins without obvious issues. There was even a couple dead ones in the bathroom on the wall. 3) the so called air conditioner was a window unit which I own at home and they aren’t great but this one didn’t work. Everytime we turned it on the power cut out. So we sweated all night trying to sleep. We also had to run the ceiling fan high speed due to the heat which dried us both out so bad, I woke up with red eyes and needing nasal saline and eye drops to lubricate. Oh and the shower curtain is gross and needs replaced. I was also irritated that the tub and bed were so hard to get in and out of for a 5 foot 3 person. Maybe my standards are too high but for $160 I expect a lot more. All I could think of was that I would rather sleep in my tent or at our next hotel. To me maybe this place would have been ok for me pre covid but with Covid it just doesn’t feel pandemic clean. We also didn’t appreciate being left to find our cabin in the dark after I told the place we wouldn’t be there until evening; and they sent me an email saying someone is always there. Then they called to tell us their desk is closing. Being that a national park is nearby it would be safe to assume folks may come in the evening after a day of fun. Turning a porch light on with a Cabin name visable would have been nice while we had our hands full of bags and food, searching for it. I think 20 years ago a younger me would have been happy here but not...
Read moreThis was perhaps the worst experience my wife and I have had at a hotel. I have read many older and recent negative reviews that are consistent with our stay. The positive reviews must consist of the cabins and not the actual hotel we stayed in. Upon going into our dark room I turned on the lighted ceiling fan it was out of balance and extremely noisy. Coffee maker wasn't working and no signal to the television. WiFi was slow and sporadic if working at all. I asked the front desk if they had a working coffee maker to replace ours and they said no. I asked if someone could fix the tv and after an hour of having two random maintenance men in our room I asked if we could just change rooms. I was told it would be an additional charge for the same type room. They were finally able to get a signal on the tv after replacing some type of component but it took an additional hour to load. The tv would cut out and filter and have to reload throughout our stay. When my wife pulled back the bed sheet there were a black pair of women's underwear that fell to the floor. Hotel staff explained that the underwear possibly belonged to an employee and got stuck to the sheets as employees apparently do their personal laundry at the hotel. Day two returned to our room at approximately 3pm and our room hadn't been cleaned although we had left the service room placard on the door when we left that morning. We then saw that the bathroom window, wall and towels were covered in black ants. Hotel staff came to our room and handed me bug spray. After I sprayed I attempted to open the window for ventilation and it was broken so I was unable to open. Other rooms issues including room entry door with large gaps, room door lock that didn't seem secure, bathroom light with a fan combination that sounded like broken grinder when turned on and what appeared to be poorly installed shower fixtures. There was also no manager on grounds during our stay. Last is the facility grounds. We were expecting something much nicer based on the hotel website photos that in my opinion are deceptive based on what we...
