Best Western Shelbyville Inn and Suites Celebration Inn — Hotel in Shelbyville

Stayed over summer. Was directed to the hotel by my husband’s company, along with several other employees. We were delighted to find that a larger room was available, one that had recently been “remodeled”. Unfortunately, the room was not clean. There were issues with mold under the sink. There was no cold water at one point, which made bathing our children difficult. Someone vomited near our door and we had to go ask the front desk to attend to this after days of it just sitting. Although we were supposed to be at the hotel for months, we left. The other employees also opted to leave. However, the very worst part of the stay was the manager, Mathew Ray, swapping our credit card with somebody else’s and mixing up over $6,000 in charges. This took over 5 months to sort out, many phone calls to the hotel and credit card companies and very rude treatment by the manager. I asked to speak to the owner and Mr. Ray said the owner would only say what he said and I never heard back. Absolutely terrible way to treat a guest, especially after all the inconvenience. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel.

This is in response to the blatant lies that were posted by the alleged owner. For anybody interested (perhaps corporate) we have a full paper trail of this matter. My husband has never had a company card. My husband’s promotion was never on the line and the company itself backed us 100%, since they too had issues with Mathew Ray’s incompetence. On April 26, 2014 around 9:45 pm, a group of basketball players and myself checked into the Best Western Celebration Inn & Suites on Madison St in Shelbyville, TN. After a long afternoon of being in a gym, we dropped our luggage in our rooms and set out to find a bite to eat. After returning to our room, we discovered that the beds were infested with BED BUGS. After catching a few of the bugs and taking them to the front desk to let them know and to ask for a refund so that we could go elsewhere, the night clerk was not very much help. She had to call her manager Rodney, and Rodney refused to give a refund until he could check the room. To make a long story short, the desk clerk called the cops, cops actually sided with us after walking to the room and seeing the bugs for themselves. We made a report with the cops who also took pictures of the bugs. Needless to say, Rodney would not come to the hotel or talk to me on the phone. Another one of our parties discovered bed bugs in there room also. We all decided to leave and go somewhere else. After about an hour or longer, the cops making a report and 3 rooms checking out, Rodney decided that he was not going to charge us. Due to there system conveniently going down and Rodney working on them from home, we left without our receipts. One of the officers actually stayed there and then brought is the receipt. Our receipt showed $0.00 due, but guess what...my card has a charge on it. I have contacted the corporate office and filed my complaint. Room 216 and 116 did have bed bugs. The Front Desk Worker By The Name Of JAMI LOUISE RODRIGUEZ Was Very Rude To My Sister And Her Friend . Her Friend Didnt Have An ID On Her So My Sister Gave JAMI Her ID And Everything Went In Well The First Time No Problems (My Sister Is Finna Be 22) And Then JAMI Seemed To Start Having An Attitude With My Sister And Her Friend. She Started Changing The Price For Their Stay. And They Would Agree And She Would Just Keep Changing It . )My Sister And Her Friend Are Nice People Who Get Along With Alot Of People.) And Then She Started Saying That Actually They Can't Get A Room Because My Sister Is Not 21. (She Is . She's Going To Be 22 In July !!) And She Can't Say Its Not True Because Obviously It Went Fine The First Time She Checked Her ID And All The Sudden She Aint Old Enough. And They Obviously Got Bothered By That And JAMI Told Them If They Had A Problem Then They Can Speak To The Manager Who Is Also Her "Husband"(Evan Rodriguez) . She Really Just Used That Against Them Because Her "Husband" Is Manager. She Said It Herself . And We Arent Sure If The Owner Of This Building Will Do Anything To Punish Them So I Decided To Make A Review About It. My Sister Is A Nice Person I Knew She Probably Wouldnt Do Anything But That Is Just Rude. And I Dont Want To Hear An Excuse From The Owner Having Their Back BCuz I Seen A Other Bad Review Of This Best Western In Shelbyville And The Owner Only Had His Staffs Back .
