A great Italian restaurant dies, and what appears to be yet another Mexican restaurant moves into it's place. At least that was my first impression. Then, we tried it out. Let me just say ... it's not just "another" Mexican restaurant. This is the place we'll be going most often when the mood hits. I'm good and boring, but what can I say. I ordered the Fajitas Jalisco, without onions. I'm also a picky eater, and custom order a lot of places. Sometimes just to see how they handle it. Our server/waitress was awesome. She was super friendly. Turns out she had only lived here in the US of Merica for a couple months. Her English is definitely new, but she handled it impressively. Not one mistake in my overly complex order. Well done! My girl ordered the Super Quesadilla. Steak, Chicken, and Chorizo on a home made flour tortilla with peppers and onions. It was huge! The Chorizo didn't overpower anything, and it wasn't greasy at all. Nice! The sides included the usual suspects, and one unique one for this area anyway ... Street Corn. A sweet, yummy ear of corn with cheese and other stuff I can't figure out. Delicious. For dessert, we ordered Churros and ice cream. Holy cow! Four Churros sticks thay were thick, yummy, and ... I can't even find words. Just trust me. Don't pass it up. The atmosphere was great, the staff was cheery and friendly. The price was very reasonable. I couldn't recommend this more. Go there, eat, and head home...
Read moreWhere to start — I rarely leave reviews, but after tonight, it would honestly feel like a disservice not to share our experience.
We walked in around 8:20 on a Saturday night to find only two tables seated, so we figured maybe they were closing soon. Turns out, they weren’t — though the atmosphere said otherwise. A quick trip to the restroom confirmed that suspicion when the lights didn’t even work.
Then came the cheese dip — which can best be described as a mix of burnt and bottom-of-the-barrel. Not sure what happened there, but it wasn’t cheese as we know it.
After waiting roughly 35–45 minutes, our food finally arrived… except not a single order was correct. At that point, we just had to laugh.
Needless to say, we won’t be back. The saving grace was our server who wasn’t even our actual server but stepped up.— it was only his second day, and bless him, he did everything he could to make an otherwise awful experience at least somewhat tolerable. Kudos to him for holding it together when...
Read moreTried this place for the first time since they opened up, I grew up in Shelbyville and el Mexico has always been my go to for Mexican food, however, I don’t come to Shelbyville much anymore since I moved to lewisburg. But anyways I must say the food was FANTASTIC the service was great and the price was very reasonable. This place beats El Mexico by FAR. Hands down a very big competitor with them. My only complaint is the salsa, it was good don’t get me wrong however I don’t like onions so the chunks of onion in the salsa was a disappointment for me. But overall, This was the best Mexican restaurant I’ve had in a very long time!!! Also the best Mexican restaurant in Shelbyville in my opinion....
