Shiner Country Inn — Hotel in Shiner

This is a delayed review, but stayed stayed at Shiner Country Inn in May for an overnight solo motorcycle trip. Was a great location to walk into town to visit Shiner brewery then have dinner at Shiner Place Saloon on walk back to Inn. Room was comfy, cool and welcoming. Main reason for review is I left my wedding band on the desk in room when getting ready to leave. I realized halfway home on motorcycle ride. I live in the Dallas area so not close and was about 2 hrs on way home. I called contact number once realized and was actually able to reach a live person. She texted the cleaning staff while I was on the phone to notify to check or go back to room. Office person said they would get back with me. Sure enough they reached back out later that day as I was riding home, located and secured the ring. I was ecstatic. They mailed my ring to me free of charge later the next week. What I did not mention to the staff is I lost my wife in December and this was the first trip away from home without her. Shiner County Inn has no idea how they saved my grieving process. This little motel had potential but, unfortunately you absolutely cannot get through to anyone to talk to if you have an issue. And we had issues! First of all our door code would not work to get into our motel room. Thankfully we ran into someone in town that was able to connect us to the right person and they finally gave us a call. I have no idea what's going on with the ownership and why, because they have no one on site working the office, they don't have a good answering service. We called, we sent an email,… No reply. Again it was only because someone in town knew someone that was connected with the motel that we finally got into our room. Then during the night our AC unit began to freeze up and was making a loud noise. Thankfully my husband was able to remedy it, or it would've been one long, hot, night if not, because remember there's no one to talk to in person, no one to call if you have an issue! Then when we tried to call on it in the morning to give them a heads up so that the next room guest would not have the same problem, again, left a message… No response at all ever. If there was a minus star I would hit it! I booked there thinking cute place from outside and close to a place I was working in town. When I arrived I jumped into the shower only to jump out and see how filthy this place was! I called to get money back so I could go somewhere else. Of course it went to an answering service who could do nothing to help me. Being my card was charged for two days, I could not just leave. I had to call the next morning because they had not even tried to call. I showed pictures of the filth, the turn rug, the rusted lamp. The picture above the bed with mold on inside and paper towels that were left in the sheets that I don't believe we're changed. So the lady in charge said she would not change anything. I asked for money back there is no anything showing I got refunded and now as of 4 days, I have yet to see that refund. Do yourself a favor and do not stay there!
