I used to love this restaurant…as of late however I have become increasingly frustrated with the staff!! I live alone and do not wish to sit alone in a restaurant to eat so I usually order my dinners to go and take it home to eat. That has, however, become impossible since the staff absolutely refuses to answer the phone so you can place an order to go!!! Instead you are forced to go to the restaurant and place your order and then sit in your car for 30 minutes or more while they fix it!!!! I’m sitting in my car right now writing this and waiting for my order yet AGAIN!!! The restaurant is busy but nowhere busy enough that they cannot answer the phone!!! Especially since the waitress has time to be joking and carrying on with the kitchen staff while I was standing at the register waiting to place my order!!!! If not for the simple fact that there are so few restaurants in Socorro, I would just stop spending my money in a place where the staff could care this about their customers then to inconvenience themselves enough to actually tend the customers who pay their paychecks!!!!!!!

I had to get back on to add the fact that it took me an hour and 6 minutes to finally get my order only to find out it was wrong and I had to take it back inside to have it fixed!!! Then as if that wasn’t enough from the staff here tonight I had to ask to even get plastic ware and napkins!!!! Now my food after all of this ordeal’s finally home I get to take my now COLD FOOD home to eat it. Plus, I wasn’t even given my usual senior discount so I got to overpay for my more than an hour ordeal and cold food!!!! I I can say in closing is……WOW REALLY!!!!!!!!!!

And just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse…I get home to find a pile of lettuce, tomato, and pickles UNDER my cheeseburger that was smothered in brown gravy!!!! Who does that?????? I paid $19 for slop that I couldn’t even eat after ALL of that!!!! Who would EVER eat brown gravy flavored with pickles and...

What a " HAVE TO VISIT" restaurant/ Bar while ever stopping to refuel on the drive thru trip or if you are a local to Soccorro New Mexico!!! This wonderful diner is one of the lastest open in this quant town, and offers excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner all day at a price we all use to remember from back in the day! Not to mention attached to the diner in its own separate but, so very a blast from the past decor seating area is a full service bar. The kind that granddad use to visit to put a nickel in the jukebox and chew the fat or bend a'ear ,while relaxing over his favorite mug of sudz and the ol' factory shut down for the evening. And at the darn near same price for your popular domestic draughts. The wait staff is always friendly and on the ball to let you know about the daily special or refill your cup of Joe. So the next time your pasting thru quiet lil Soccorro, New Mexico , hit the breaks and visit El Camino restaurant and Lounge for some friendly faces, far out prices and amazing feel good food or your next favorite Mug of Sudz...

Very solid and cheap unpretentious diner food with all day breakfast I'm from Boston, and this place has really grown on me through about 2 dozen visits over the 5 weeks I've spent in Socorro over the past 2 years. It's not the best food or service, but there's just something about this place that I love. I would definitely say their breakfast items (served all day) are the best - in particular the breakfast burrito, the southwest omelette, and the pancakes, which are DELICIOUS and are the best pancakes I've ever had. The portion sizes are extremely generous and I'm always full when I leave. The service is usually pretty good and pretty dang fast as long as it's not too crowded, but there have been a few times when I haven't been impressed. I've had a handful of items I'm not a fan of on the menu but I really can't complain for something this affordable. Do not get their margarita. Also I would highly recommend substituting their beans for hashbrowns or more rice, they just don't taste good. Easily one of the top 3 best...

Consistently excellent food. Been coming here for 20 years, always great food and great friendly service. For about the same price as day food you can get a home cooked meal that includes sides and home made tortillas. My go to order is the Mexican combo with a chili relation and an enchilada smothered in red or green chili or both! Comes with terrific beans, and rice, and a corn or flour tortilla, has fresh lettuce and tomato. Served in the cafe or to go. Super fast service either way. The Greek salad is also wonderful. Desserts are yummy. Old school diner NM route 66 vibe. American, NM, Mexican, and Greek food. Their breakfasts are too of the line as well. If you are over 60, so for the senior discount. Yesterday we had 2 Mexican combos as mentioned above for $22.50 total after the senior discount. The day before that we had an order for two at Sonic that cost $27.00. No comparison with the food, El Camino is the place to go.

I ate here twice once for dinner and once for breakfast. The food was outstanding! Dinner - I had pork tamales. First time I have seen real tamales in a restaurant. They were very good, and they were certainly authentic. I had the Christmas sauce in the side. The red chilies were very hot, and the green was very mild. Both had great flavors and made the dish even better. Next morning for breakfast, I had the two sausage breakfast burritos with Christmas sauce on the side. This time, the green was hotter than the red. The burritos were AWESOME. Here for both dishes they served beans on the side and I REALLY liked that. Service was an issue. For dinner, they never came and refilled my drink till I was ready to leave. Then the next morning the two waitresses did not do a good job and both argued, cussed and complained loudly about a myriad of different things.
