My vehicle had issues leaving me stranded in South Hutchinson at 10:00pm, at a Love's right across from this place. Not having too many options at that hour I checked in. The lady at the desk seemed friendly, but she was dealing with a lot of people because as she told me, "the morning staff doesn't speak English". I inspected the room and determined it was in need of a good deep clean and a fresh coat of paint, but the sheets and the toilet were clean and that was the important thing. There were no visible signs of insect life. I did notice only a single towel and washcloth for all restroom purposes and resolved to avoid showering that night. Having seen reports of bed bugs on Google, I checked under the mattress and couch cushions and saw no signs of them.
Preparing for the worst, I decided to leave my bags in my car and take only my toiletries and a single change of clothes into the room, which I left on the hangers away from the bed. Sure enough, just before 2:00AM I saw movement out of the corner of my eye while watching a movie and there were two bed bugs. I wound up finding 4 in total, which I caught and put in a Ziploc bag. I took it to the front desk to find it completely unmanned. The "immediate assistance" number rang a cell phone that was charging behind the desk.
Not being able to switch rooms I simply had to sleep the rest of the night in a bedbug-ridden bed. Had at least 15 bites the next morning. Upon taking the Ziploc bag containing the bedbugs to the front desk again, I found it unmanned again but with a button to call for assistance. Pressing the button caused a member of the housekeeping staff to emerge from one of the rooms being cleaned and attend the front desk! As I had been warned, she didn't speak a word of English and relied entirely on the somewhat broken translations of Google translate. Furthermore, she seemed clueless as to basic front desk duties and didn't even know how to print a receipt! I left the bugs with her but kept...
Read moreOriginally over the weekend my boyfriend and I were booked for his MMA fight. I did look up the reviews and saw nothing but bad things. I did not know how bad it would be until we experienced it for ourselves. First off, I would like to say that the lady at the front desk was super kind and tried her very best to get us in asap. It was a rough first start because we had to wait at least an hour to get a room that would be clean. And on top of waiting I had noticed that the front desk lady was trying her hardest to speak Spanish to the one maintenance worker to fix the leaks from the ceilings in the rooms and I didn’t think that was a good first impression either. When my boyfriend and I first walked in everything looked nice and cleaned until we smelled cheap perfume from other people who stayed. The bed linen did not seemed to be changed either because there was plenty of hairs on it. Besides the bed mo phone on the nightstand to contact with the front desk which was a bummer. My first night I had slept I had a gut feeling that the bed was infested with bedbugs because I was really itchy the whole night. The following morning I got two bites on my neck. I also want to say I found a cockroach crawling on the toilet seat. Yuck! I definitely looked around the entire room after finding it. The second night following back to the hotel room. My boyfriend was pretty beat and sore from his fight so all he wanted to do was just take a nice hot bath. Nope! The boiler was completely shut off for the rest of the night. The lady at the front did offer us some hand warmers so I had use that for his body to make his soreness better. Honestly, if it weren’t for that front desk lady being so nice to us, probably would’ve left the first night, but I will never return...
Read moreI booked months ago for the state fair. At the time, it was affiliated with Choice hotels. It was literally just bought by new owners that took posession a day or two before our arrival, and does not appear to be affiliated with Choice hotels any longer. The first room we were assigned was on 2nd floor and were given a room key. Upon entering the room, it was already booked to another customer as their luggage was on the desk (fortunately there were no surprises for either party). We were assigned a new room just across from the pool. The room was missing the bathroom ceiling heat lamp, there was a hole in the tub where the plunger handle would otherwise be located, and the return air duct vents were very moldy (not rusty because I checked close), likely from being so close to the pool. Upon checkout the following morning, there was a visitor, who appeared to know the desk clerk, who seemed to be a little "off" and made me a bit uncomfortable in his ramblings. The hall carpets on 2nd floor looked like they had not been vacuumed for a few days. Considering the hotel is under new management, it is difficult to criticize hotel accommodations under the prior management. The bedding appeared to be clean, however, I had the urge to wipe down all surfaces inside the room based on the appearance of the building and this is typically not something I worry too much about at other hotels otherwise. I recommend to contact the hotel directly to inquire whether any remodeling or upgrades have been done, as it was in much need of maintenance as it looked...
