Plazago Truckstop — Local services in South Hutchinson

Great place to stop when passing through or picking up a load in Hutchinson. Medium sized truck parking lot used to always have spaces, but increased truck traffic in this area fills it up more than previous.

Applewood Restaurant has good food every time I've been here long enough for a sit down meal. They have had some remodels done over the past few years and have been open between each. Reviews for last year's remodel have me wondering what was done - most likely in kitchen as the dining area looks about the same as it has for about 3-4 years now.

Would give 5 stars, but I think parking lot needs some attention. It's rough and could be expanded to accommodate more trucks. Also the intersections could use better traffic control - you can end up waiting quite awhile for traffic on KS-96 before you can...

I understand staff shortage and closing at midnight, but please change your business hours to reflect exactly what you mean.

I stopped in at 2315 hours and held the door open for a gentleman wheeling in two large cans on a flat cart, I used the restroom, and at 2320 hours when I emerged from the restroom, the lights were off and the lady attending stated "we're closed". A bit startled, considering a a few months prior when I attempted to enter at 2330 hours, she told me that she locks the door at 2330 hours trip process closing down. So PLEASE change that paper sign on your doors to reflect that you simply don't stay open past 2330 hours, and "skip on down the road to Loves for your needs until we open again."

If you can't or won't stay open until...

I will come here over loves, over pilot over petro, or the big box truck stops. It's nice to come to an actual truck stop. From the convenience store, which has almost anything you need (tools, some parts, CB parts, fluids, clothing, blankets, etc). Anything you'd need on the road that you "forgot" at home, you can get here. The showers remind me of an old-school truck stop in Washington state. They have a living room exclusively for truckers (and well kept too, unlike like the pilot FlyingJ TV rooms). Lastly, the restaurant and employees...man what a treat.
