Greeted by a cabbie who said he had been driving a cab in St. Louis are for 15 years and had never heard or been to this hotel. Not encouraging. I get there and have to communicate with the less than enthusiastic woman behind a thick glass window where you pass money and documents through a slot at the bottom. She was confused when I gave her my printout that I had booked and paid online. She called her manager who instructed her to let me into a dirty cramped little waiting area after he sized me up and determined I wouldn't hold them up. Again, not too encouraging. On the way in I passed a sign that read "no refunds after ten minutes," perhaps aimed at 'johns.' From the look of some of the characters roaming around, I determine I'm not in Kansas anymore. More like an episode of Cops. I'm in town for a conference and there are literally no hotels within the city limits so I am stuck here for the night. I find my room after walking around the building and up some stairs that were straight out of a violence prevention class for women, constantly looking over my shoulders. Get to my room, lock the door and turn on the light. A tiny tv from the 80's and a phone half bashed on from the 70's catch my eye. I immediately pull the Nast looking bed cover off and get sketched out even more. Not that the sheets were dirty, they just had interesting spots and I wasn't taking any chances. I would have slept in my car if I drove. Instead, I put the razor thin, undersized towels down that also looked like they were from the 70s and slept in my clothes. I was surprised that it had wifi, however. The water in the shower dribbled out and i was in and out as quickly as possible. In the morning I turn on the tv and the news is headlined by three smash and grab robberies, one of which took place a block up the street. Ever the optimist, I realize that I was not in any real danger during my stay and I did not get eaten by any bedbugs, otherwise it would have been one star rating.|My advice - find another place...
Read moreAbsolutely hands down, the worst of worst hotel/motel!!! First off daughter and family traveled 20+ hours to pick up a small child, after arriving and driving 10 more they decided to stay at the place they originally had booked!!! So 30+ hours of driving ready to rest with a small child, they arrive, these images are misleading, there was not one individual walking around with shoes( not that this is relevant) VERY “HOOD LIKE” the receptionist did not speak English,( again not relevant we love all) told my daughter after she had reserved they could not stay because she wasn’t 21,she suggested call and change to her BF name,so they did so,they approach this woman through glass again, and she again refuses after they did what she directed!! Said they could not pay with her card because she didn’t was not 21,(MIND U THESE KIDS ARE ON SAME ACCOUNT) NOW REMEMBER THIS ROOM HAD ALREADY PREVIOUSLY BEEN RESERVED BY THE SAME DAUGHTER,same age, same identification... after reading all reviews it certainly was a blessing in disguise,THEY WENT TO GET A CHILD...
Read moreWe chose this hotel for the price, and it is reasonably close to St. Louis. Over all I can't complain, the price was good and it seemed pretty clean. It was very run down and the pool wasn't working, although we wound up not having time to swim anyway, and the beds were very uncomfortable. But for as cheap as it was those pale in comparison because it was pretty clean and very quiet (we have a 2.5 year old) I was not very impressed with having to talk to the main desk people through the glass window though, it made the experience feel very seedy, especially since there was a perfectly good lobby area through a locked door, and we checked in at 3 pm, not 3 am... The one thing that really stuck out in for us was one of the cleaning ladys. As we were loading up the car she talked to our son and wished my husband a happy fathers' day. She was so sweet, I wish I...
