My experience at the front desk was exactly like another woman's, Amy B. The desk attendant was extremely Rude on the phone, Every descriptive term Amy used in her review was 100% accurate. She was also exactly accurate to the very words of the two phone calls he made earlier to my room. He was extremely rude at the desk. Talked over me, got in my face, shoved the reservation from the previous night in my face, and threatened to kick me out-im a 61yr. old disabled woman, and yes I was angry. I had my dog's leash in one hand, my phone, key and ID in the other. I was pulling on my dog so he would not scare this man who was clearly afraid. I tried to put my ID on the counter, there was no room and it fell to the floor. I said can you pick that up please, holding my full arms up to show I couldn't do it myself. He raised his chin as if to challenge me and stared at me. I said Pick it up, I can't! Again yes I was very angry by now thanks to his abusive behavior from the first words out of his mouth earlier that day. He looked at me and said NO. I said to hold my dog than. His eyes got wider and he said I could leave, as if that were instead of him helping me. Let me just interject here. I am disabled. Not visibly so, but he should have noticed my mobility issues. I found a place to put my phone, the key and my wallet, and picked it up. I was shaking with anger by now. He continued to scowl and stare at me as if to challenge me. I said (yes probably not in my polite voice) There you go, and looked back at him. He did nothing. I said go ahead... You can put it on the same card. He talked over me saying he could kick me out right now. I told him Hey sorry, but there's my ID just put it on the same card. He told me again that he needed my id and credit card. I asked what's the problem here. Any other hotel would have called my room and said ok ma'am thank you, your good for another night. I have been here often over the last three years once after nearly being homeless when homes for sale were on the market for a matter of hours. The regular young lady at the counter has always been exceptionally sweet and helpful. This young man's father (I assume because of similar appearance and age difference -plus no one but a child of the owner would be so bold as to act like this) has always been very kind to me, smiling, yet business like. I always see him helping to clean rooms and generally supervising. Obviously the manager or owner. I would like him to see the reviews about this very young man ( looked 18-20) who clearly has no manners or sense of customer service and who obviously thinks he is doing me a favor. This manager would be appalled. These are foreign people with a heavy accent, and maybe run into racism themselves from time to time so I can understand a LITTLE attitude, but this takes attitude to a new level. Granted in my case I had made two nights reservation instead of the only one they had. I thought there may have been a mix up at check in the night before as I had changed the payment method which appeared to have taken quite some time. But this young man squashed any chance of a peaceful resolution with his attitude. And in the end the result would have been to pay for the reservation just the same. As it should be. No need to yell at me on the phone right off the bat, and have me lose what I was working on because of his rude insistence. I was there because of a gas leak in my home. I wasn't there to rip them off or annoy them as you would think by the way I was spoken to. I'm sure I can find a hotel where I will be treated...
Read moreI would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff are racist, rude, unprofessional, and misogynistic. My husband and I travel a lot, I have never dealt with or been treated the way we were specifically me. We asked for a 2 hour late check out of course with a fee $40, it was almost 2pm and we decided to stay another night to continue celebrating our anniversary, I called down to the front desk at 1:53pm and stated we would like to go ahead and book the room for another night, the guy said no no it's almost 2pm you need to come down here with your ID and Credit card right now, I said I will be down there in a little bit, he said no you need to come right now, I asked why he didn't have my information already stored as every other hotel does he said you need to come now, no other explanation. 2 min after hanging up the phone now its 1:56pm, a male employee and female employee were trying to enter our room, 1:58 pm that the guy from the front desk calls our room again demanding me come to the front desk, I explained that I was getting dressed and using the bathroom and would be right down. I went to down to the front desk alone to deal with him, There was 4 employees all standing around the desk, I told him I am absolutely appalled on how you run things here, I am trying to rent the room for another night, he then says no you pay for extended check out, yes that is what I originally wanted then said we want to stay another night, you not only demanded me to come down here immediately, he interrupts me I told you 2pm it's 2:03pm now you are late, late to what I am trying to pay for another night I was putting clothes on and had to use the restroom first, he started yelling at me, I was yelling back told him he has no business running a hotel and treating his customers like this, he was pointing at me and yelling and told me he would not rent me the room and that we needed to leave immediately and said he was calling the cops, told me we had until 230pm, I told him i wouldn't rent another room here anyways and we will leave when we are done packing, he said I told you 230 or I'm calling the cops. My husband went down to get the cart after we packed up our room, he had no idea who I spoke with, he asked to speak to the manager, the guy was very polite at first told he was not available and was somewhere around the rooms on another floor. He said I would like to speak about a situation that was handled very poorly specifically with my wife, he said the guy went from polite to this instant scowl on his face and immediately said the situation that occurred was due to his wife. He replied that your customer service skills are very poor, you call once and we told you we would be down shortly to handle booking the room for another evening, a few minutes later people are knocking on the door and entering the room which had a do not disturb sign hanging on the door. Then a few minutes later you are calling the room yet again demanding we come right this second to take care of the booking of the room. He then said the cops have already been called, my husband said that's fine I don't care if they need to be here while we packed up and load our things to watch us go ahead. We will definitely never be back...
Read moreMy husband and I drove from Kansas City to attend my sister’s funeral. My nephew had booked and prepaid for rooms for him and spouse, my self and spouse, and his 3 adult children, spouses and children. When we arrived, the young lady at the front desk continually interrupted me when I was trying to talk she actually seemed a little “high”. I explained to her my adult children were coming in also and asked for our rooms to be close. She told me no problem, and gave me the room number they would be in. We unloaded our car and took everything to our room. We were needing to get to my sister’s home to meet up with the family. I didn’t examine the room because we were in a rush. When my children met us, they informed me their room was on a different floor than we had been told. When we returned to the hotel, there was a pile of wet towels laying in front of our door. I didn’t want to touch them, so I moved them with my foot. When we got in the room, I was going to call the front desk to complain, but difficult to do when the phone doesn’t work. From the time we were in our room, the nearby rooms were yelling in the halls and slamming doors well into early morning. We discovered the drain cover in the “fancy” new sinks, could not be lifted to drain anything in the sink. There was almost zero water pressure in the sink. Some of the floor molding in the bathroom had come unglued and laying on the floor. The next morning when we all met for the funeral, my adult son told us when they parked their car, there was several young “adults” smoking pot by the side door going into the hotel. Also, my nephew, that had prepaid for the rooms, found out one of his adult son, moved out of the hotel a short time after checking in. The room smelled like pot so bad, their 8 yr old son mentioned the smell. Then when they pulled out a requested trundle bed, the sheets had blood on them. They called a different hotel and moved, with their 3 children, to that new location. We were booked to stay 2 nights, but after having no sleep the night before because of the constant noise, we decided to drive back to KC. After we packed up our things, we went down to the front desk to check out. I cashed the desk person, which is the lady we checked in with, that I wanted to talk to the manager, she told me the manager wasn’t there and informed me she is the desk manager. I told her all of complaints and felt we shouldn’t be charged for the 2nd night. She said since the room was prepaid, she couldn’t reverse the 2nd night’s fee. She also informed me if I had complaints, we should contact corporate and Expedia. Having worked in the corporate world for many years, I would have terminated a person with the attitude and unprofessional attitude we experienced. We have stayed at numerous La Quinta’s across the country, but will never again. Don’t let the website...
