This was our first time visiting the Springfield location as we had visited the Peoria one before now and loved it. We were a little apprehensive about the location as we weren't in love with the last visit to the mall down there so we didn't have high expectations for the location however we actually enjoyed our experience. Driving from Bloomington to Springfield was a bit of a challenge with some road construction going on but we were able to make up the difference in time and get there within the same amount of time it would have without the construction. I will say it was a little pricey with us paying 70.00 for 2 adults,17yr old and 6 yr old. However it was our little ones birthday so the splurge was ok for the occasion. We were surprised by the selection of food they did have there and we enjoyed checking out what was being offered and pretty much enjoyed just about everything we selected. The food was being made available as it was being taken. There were quite a number of people there but it wasn't too crowded we did go during a dinner rush I would presume Tuesday night about 5-6. The waitress we had was super attentive and very nice always making sure she was checking in with us and refilling our drinks. I think the only complaint we had is that the dessert section was def lacking in comparison to the food options and the ice cream machine was out of service so we skipped on dessert but in an overall sense we really...
Read moreWe arrived close to closing. The seating staff and the serving staff were helpful and friendly, even though we arrived only 20 minutes to close. We knew by showing up that late, they would be as tired & ready to head home as we were after a long day-but they were great. Managing staff, not so much. They were short and borderline rude to the serving and seating staff, and made us customers feel as if we were imposing on him by being there. By words, and by attitude, verbal, and non-verbal sighs and body language. We didn't ask for fresh food to be made, we didn't complain that the salad was a wee bit wilted, or that there were only a few green beans left, or that they shut off the Chocolate Fountain. Nope, we (happily) ate what was still available, and headed out to our hotel before starting another 12-hour day of our own. The rating would have been higher because of the seating and serving staffers, and the food we had was filling, and tasted good after a really long day. No, not everything was available, but that's okay. We figured that going in at the last few minutes. The management's attitude and demeanor was what really left a "bleh" taste...
Read moreThe last 3 times our family has went to Golden Corral have been horrific. I thought about taking pics of the hours old food to post. The foreign workers manning the grill do not know any English or seem to have any type of proper food training. The food was so old all the gravy’s had a layer of gravy skin. Somehow the Mac n cheese sat there so long it separated and looked like oil with sludgy noodles. The cooks do not know what your saying when your asking for a piece of steak and that’s if your lucky to get steak after paying so much. They never have steaks cooking and ready to go. The place has went down hill. I’m definitely taking pics next time. Those pans of food were there hours past the pull time. Nothing not one pan was stirred. Anything that could have a layer of skin on top did. There’s no way those cooks are passing with health department. On other hand the salad bar was stocked clean and no issues. There was only pudding and cookies for desert. I don’t know how this place is open. I bragged about this place for years but it’s obvious you’re hiring people who can’t do the job and it’s running...
