If this Pizza Ranch was a person, it would probably be the person you are kind of friends with who has a super dry personality, tries too hard, but you keep around because their mom is nice and you feel a bit bad for them. Their name would also be something like Alfonso or maybe Carol with a K. Someone you expect to be kinda cool but then you realize how much of a character they are. That is how I feel about this Pizza Ranch. I went here on a school trip, and the staff was great and the food was actually pretty good, but the inside looks like someone's aunt went to Pier One Imports and just bought literally everything that had to do with God, America, or God in America. The place was covered in American flags, and signs that say "God Bless [insert literally any noun you want here. If you can think it, they've blessed it]". I don't want to offend anybody's religion, people can believe/follow whoever they want, but these guys really laid it on thick. When we first pulled up, there was a white pick-up truck parked in the lot, seems normal, right? Well when we got closer we realized they had a Trump sticker and a Tennessee license plate cover (with an Illinois plate). This is the kind of person who is probably a regular there. It's their kind of place. Pizza Ranch seems very out of place in Illinois, I would expect it to be in some population 50 town where the manager happens to be everyone's grandma. I don't want to offend this restaurant, so now I'm going to talk about the quality of the food. The pizza was actually quite good, and the mashed potatoes were delicious. It was an all you can eat buffet, and there was plenty of food for a hundred hungry middle-schoolers. They had a soft serve ice cream machine (vanilla flavor only). Overall, it was a pretty... interesting place, and it was a very different atmosphere having just left Abraham Lincoln's Tomb. If you're just looking for some good chicken wings on your way from Chicago to Alabama, this is a great place to go to ease into...

I used to eat at Pizza Ranch in Springfield, IL at least twice a week, but not any more. Food was good, but the service was terrible, Perhaps not by accident, which is something I have never encountered in a restaurant. Things like taking uneaten food away from my table while leaving the dirty dishes. Being addressed in an angry tone when telling staff the salad bar was out of tomatoes, or the toilet was clogged. Later, it overflowed on the bathroom floor. Too many things to be considered an accident, and I believe this treatment is because I contacted management about these things and was immediately told not to return to the store because they 'could not satisfy me'. I kept asking them why they were treating me this way, but the would never give an honest answer. DO NOT EVER PUT YOUR SOIILED NAPKINS IN YOUR EMPTY DRINKING CLASSES TO HELP ORGANIZE THE DISHES FOR THE BUSBOY TO PICK UP !!! Busboy slammed my glass on the table in front of me when I did this an effort to be help him buss the dirty dishes.. If you are not a 'big eater' and have not been targeted for removal via deliberate, targeted, customer abuse, they might let you get away with it. Horrible experience ! Golden Corral has re-opened right next door and they have a better variety of food and will not treat you this way. Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe were at meetings in Springfield, IL and being fond of our Peoria and Morton Pizza Ranch we decided to stop for dinner after meeting. We were going to Golden Corral next door but they were so crowded we decided to visit the Pizza Ranch next door. Now we know why they had a crowd and Pizza Ranch didn't. This visit was at 4:34 pm. Makaila was at register and we paid our senior meals for $28.96 plus tax. Need less to say this was the worst meal we have ever had at Pizza Ranch. Reasons are very little salad fixings, a lot of things were empty so if you just want lettuce, better hurry because it was about gone too! Then as far as pizza goes there were only 2 pizzas out and they looked and tasted as if they had been there awhile. Chicken was stocked but looked burnt, my husband is the chicken eater and he said it was salty and he usually has to resalt everything. I had 2 dry pcs of pizza and then i thought maybe couple pcs dessert and ice cream. No dessert! I ask and one of the gals said she'd go check. Came back and said it will be a couple of minutes. Well, a couple to me is 2 not yhe 20 it took for then to bring 2 out with 6 people standing waiting for it. So i had ice cream until my cup was half full, then it ran out. I ask for the manager who had the ice cream in his hands to install. He apologized and offered me a free meal voucher. I told him not to bother as he definately had bigger problems. We won't be stopping at this Pizza Ranch and will stand in line at Golden Corral next time like everyone else! VERY DISAPPOINTED! ate a hot dog when we got home...
