It seems these days people care more about bottom dollar then the service we receive, having experience in hospitality I have to say I have really missed it. I have mentioned in conversations how nice it would be if the person I was purchasing from at least smile much less Thank me for my business. My faith in exellent customer service was restored when I checked in to this Comfort Inn, Julia was working the evening shift apnd was so pleasant to talk to, when I told her that my car had broken down at the nearest rest stop on our way home, which is an hour North of the Twin Cities and it was now in the parking lot of the Napa store in town where we(Dan & Joanie- the owners of the store) discovered I had a cracked intake manifold, which they had the part but explained it was beyond my limitations of changing without tools and a garage, but if needed would sell me the part after being lclosed for over an hour. Luckily they were getting ready for a car show and was there after hours with their sons polishing the '57 Chevy and moving the '68 SS Camero to the front of store and occasionally stopped to see if I was doing OK replacing a thermostat... when I asked if there was a hotel in town, Joan not only called around but she had her son in law drive my son and I to the Comfort Inn where I said to Julia, I needed the cheapest room for a possible few days and she went through all the possibilities, yes I have AAA, yes I have a corperate staff badge, and down the line we went. When we checked in our room my son made a comment about how comfortable his bed was with 4 big pillows, I figured after 13 hours at a rest stop and 3 hours @ the Napa store anything other then the back seat was comfortable, but he was right, the beds were very comfortable, the adjustable shower head was just what my shoulders needed, the towels were clean, fluffy adequately portioned for more then one guest as was all the amenities in the room. Clear channel listing and easy remote was barely used before we could even order dinner we were both asleep. I stopped at the front desk around 5 am to make sure there was availability for another night, wether the car was fixed or not I figured for the rate given to us and excellence in all areas of this hotel it was worth having the comfort knowing we were safe and not rushed to get back on the road, plus the pool area looked like a great place to hang out waiting for our car to be fixed. Jessica went ahead and put us in for another night, she reconized our room number from my son having trouble with the vending machine dropping his chips, how she helped him. I was looking for mechanics in the area when Marty from maintenance came by to defrost the freezer, I told him my son was still asleep and needed rest, I asked if he could do it another time. He noticed my stress, and offered a few suggestions of good mechanics in his home town of Storey City. Not looking good for my car to get in anywhere for couple of days, U recieved a phone call from Mark, he was co owner of Craigs Auto, one of Martys recommendations, he said he could get me in that day and gave me a quote. He then came to the hotel, professional in appearence, to pick up the key for the car, towed our car from Napa to his garage, worked on it until it was done, around 6 pm and the final charge was LESS then the original quote. I told him we would come by in the morning to pick it up so he would not have to stay late. Mark delivered us the car in the morning and stopped at his bank to cash a com check to pay him, Other than Reliance bank charging $23.00 fee for one of their own customers to get paid, the whole experience was above and beyond standard service. The intire adventure could have as bad as the bank by taking advantage of a 'no other choice' situation, being charged rediculous amounts with out even a glimse of smile but it wasn't, it did remind me to appreciate being a member of Affinity Plus credit union. With everything we need within walking my son John and I enjoyed a KFC dinner and beverages from the convenient store in a small room adjacent to the pool area and I was the last one to leave the jacuzzi at closing time. Missy at the front desk was very nice when we asked for a late check out as our car was being delivered. She was pleasant and understanding when I had to pay with multiple credit cards and cash. It was then that I had the priveledge of meeting the General Manager Roy Watson. I was so unbelievably please with everything to point of questioning if I was dreaming the whole thing and appreciative of the professional service in every area of this Comfort Inn and even more impressed that he just walked in from being out of...
Read moreMy son and I stayed at this hotel on our way to MN for a fishing trip. Hotel is fairly nice except air conditioner couldn't keep our 2nd floor room cool and the temperature was only in the upper 80's. The big problem started about 30 minutes after falling asleep when a baseball team on the floor above us got extremely loud and awoke both of us. I called the front desk a couple of times but they were unable to quiet the team. I finally requested to be moved to another room at 1AM as the noise never got any better. We finally got moved to another room and got to sleep around 2AM. This was really disappointing as it we started our vacation time on little rest.
The front desk person on duty at the time said she was going to leave a note for the manager to do something to make it up to us. As we checked out the next morning a different front desk person said the manager was just starting a webinar but she would have her call us. She indicated they were going to see if they could add points to my rewards account to compensate for my bad experience. After not getting a call all day, I called the hotel around 5PM but the person said the manager was busy dealing with a pool issue. I asked for a call back and that still hasn't happened.
I even called the national customer service number a couple of days later and they said they would get with the hotel and have them work with us. Still no response from the manager.
This hotel is reasonably well maintained and the front desk people are nice. However, if you have an issue that needs management attention, you're out of luck.
I chose to stay at another hotel on the way back and will stay away from this hotel...
Read moreI’m only leaving 5 stars because I can’t leave 10.
We were an hour and a half from home, 10:30 pm and our van had a belt break.
With the battery light on and the temperature maxing out, we had to pull into Story City, Iowa to see what in the world we could do.
We knew fixing the van wasn’t going to work, so needed to find a room for the night.
The Comfort Inn is located directly off the interstate so quick easy decision to see if they might have a room.
Thankfully they did!!
We were met at the desk, this late at night, with a smile and welcome.
We explained our situation and Andrew kicked into customer service mode and did everything to better the situation we were put in.
After getting registered and a room key, he thought that we might be hungry after our ordeal and offered us a couple of fresh muffins along with fresh coffee.
Just an excellent situation for what wasn’t a good situation before we walked through the doors.
He let us know where vending machines were, about their hot breakfast and emphasized if we needed anything through the night, be sure to let him know.
If every Comfort Inn is this amazing, we will absolutely be repeat customers as we travel around.
I really hope the hotel appreciates just how good of an employee they have with Andrew.
To add, the lady cleaning the dining room was so sweet, the cleaning crew was as very nice and smile filled and the gentleman who checked us out was nice.
For what was a nightmare in the making, they made it feel just like a stop along the way and for that, we’re ever...
