We have stayed here before for work, not voluntarily. Seven months ago, it was definitely doable ‘for work’. Staying here last night was an absolute nightmare. We checked in and got our room with no issue. However, when we walked into our room, the carpets were sticky and stained all across the room and it looked like no one had even made an attempt to vacuum. The hallways were just as bad. So, we attempted to call down to the office and the phone in our room did not work. We ended up walking down and explaining the situation, asking for another room. The front desk lady said there was only one room left and that if we didn’t like it, we could get refunded and find somewhere else to stay. Our second room was just as nasty floor-wise, plant debris and stains, our fridge was left open and wouldn’t shut because of the block of ice that formed. This phone worked and we called down to the front desk to see if we could get a room with a working fridge. She stated again, “we only have one room left but you can leave and get a refund”. Problem was, we couldn’t leave because it was already paid for by our boss. We got to our third room and, once again, the carpets were filthy. There was a ‘no smoking’ sign but it wreaked of cigarettes. The fridge worked! But the shower curtain bar was broken, hanging by the wallpaper, and cobwebs on the ceiling. The walls were dirty, mold in the picture frames, trash under the table, etc. I’ve worked in a motel that was way cleaner than this. If you’re still reading, congratulations! Until they remodel, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. After going through my pictures, I’d like to mention that one of the locks in our rooms was broken, there was blood in the shower, and a surprise hair in the microwave.

If we could have stayed elsewhere we would have left immediately but the reservation was non-refundable. We had booked based on the number of stars in the ratings we checked. After looking a little deeper into the reviews (post stay) it was apparent that we weren't the only guests who were less than thrilled with this property. The room was so dirty - stains on the carpet throughout the room and stains on the wall next to the microwave. As a completely non-smoking property we expected the room to smell fresh and clean. It did not. The air smelled like stale cigarettes - not like the previous guest had smoked. More like MOST of the previous guests had smoked. The interior of the HVAC unit was extremely dirty and dusty and smelled like a combination of mold and cigarettes. Plus, it was extremely noisy. There was a missing ceiling fixture over the sofa but apparently they're planning on replacing it since there was a stack of ceiling fixtures piled up in the lobby downstairs. Our room had no soap or shampoo and the wash cloths were threadbare. The toilet and tub were so low to the ground they almost reminded me of the toilets in an elementary school bathroom. Amazingly the property was almost completely sold out on a Wednesday night in October although the majority of the guests appeared to be workers from out of the area - like construction workers, linemen, etc. Not dirty or anything, just only needing basic sleeping quarters rather than something nicer for a couple or a family. On a positive note, the beds were reasonably comfortable, the TV was nice, and the water pressure was good.

10/22/23. I'm not positive, but the timing is strange. One hotel, one night. This hotel is a mess and smelled like bleach. Carpet and couch were really gross. Anyhow, spent the night and had a couple bites starting to itch. It had been extremely windy that weekend, no bugs flying around Gettysburg. After I had left, I then counted over 20 insect bite marks all over my neck and face. Each day with these bites gets more irritating. I had first sent them my review by email, I wish I waited to include this story. I'm sorry if I'm wrong about where the bugs come from, but this place is not clean, and it invites this kind of theory of bed bugs or mites. 10/29/23. 12:15 pm. Addition to my story. I called to let them know that they have a problem with the bugs. The lady that took the call pretended not to hear me. She said my phone was garbled. But it was due to the other women screaming in the background and then she hung up on me.

We checked in on Oct 3, 2023 and check out 20 minutes later.

Where to begin; walked into the lobby and there were boxes of supplies in the corner. Received our key from the front desk clerk (attitude as if we interrupted him) and went our room. Opened the door and was greeted with it being stifling hot and mildew/old smell, extremely stained and torn carpet. Attempted to cool the room off, when the AC finally kicked in, only half the fan was working. Husband went to the front desk to get a new room. While he was gone I looked into the bathroom and checked the tub, DISGUSTING!!🤢, there was an outline of black smudge/grime in the bottom of the tub from where the bath mat was removed. Husband came back with a new room, right next door. Opened the door and greeted with the same; stifling hot room, smell and stained carpet this time, no tears and no stains in the tub (upgrade). The AC once on, worked much better. Husband had to reset the Direct TV, no internet information given by the front desk. The icing on the cake; the front desk clerk walked right into our room. No knock and seemed surprised we were in there. You gave us the key. That was it; I was done. I packed our few items we had unpacked (food /drinks in the fridge) and we left. At that point, my anxiety was so bad, I was shaking. When we left the room, there were other guests in the hallway doing their laundry. They asked if we were ok, I said “no, we are out. If you’re staying, make sure you deadbolt your door, the desk clerk just walked in on us.” Their response, “we saw him just walk in there.” As we walked to the front, he seemed shock that we were leaving. I told him not so nicely, “Yes we are, because you just walked yourself right into our room.” He claims he knocked and I shut that down immediately!! He did NOT knock. Husband was on the phone with corporate from the time we left the room! DO...

Stayed at the hotel from July 18 to July 22, 2022. Checked in after 4pm and went to the room. On my way into the hotel, therd was a construction notice for renovation. Pool is closed indefinitely, looked like it was cracked. Because of construction for the renovation, supplies, lighting, bedding stored in pool area and fitness room. Also posted, no pets. On the Choice Hotels site, it still says they welcome pets, there is no mention that the pool is closed, or about the renovation. That site was not updated by the new owners that started about 6 to 7 months ago. The following morning went to breakfast. Very minimal selection with no juice machine. Only a gallon of D milk and coffee to drink. Round egg patties, potatoes, and turkey sausage, for hot items. Wafflemaker and a few select cereal types. After getting hot food, that there was no ketchup for, I was going to go for seconds. I went back up to the hot food and saw white tiny, near translucent, dust mite bugs. Reported it to the front office. Got a "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" After that comment and seeing the bugs on day 2 at breakfast, I called Choice Hotels. By the way, same food offering as day 1 on day 2. Later that day, 2 people were cleaning the breakfast area. Day 3, orange and apple juice bottles in the fridge, minimal selection. But, I didn't stick around for breakfast because I checked out early. The room had dust webs hanging in corners and from ceiling. The rest of the room was cleaning. The carpet definitely needs to go. Had to turn on the fridge in the room because it was turned off. Overall venue does need TLC and can use better, friendly, engaging...
