This was not a bad stay. As we have stayed in many many hotels an plenty that are far worse lol.
Our room was clean. We did have a handicap room for some reason. I didn’t mind but the sink made an awful sound if you didn’t use it right an the toilet didn’t have a cover when you flushed. But I’m not here to stay in my hotel all day I’m here to go out an explore.
They offer washers and dryers. Which are free. Dryer didn’t dry as well but no worries. We just hung some things up.
All the staff were wonderful. Let’s get that out there.
We didn’t eat or get anything here. Because we came to explore. There is a Starbucks down the street an wonderful places to eat in downtown. That being said. There are no restaurants in the parking lot. There’s one but only open some days. So if you need something stop at a store before hand. The fridges are very small. Take that into consideration too.
The hotel was well lighted. The hallways an entrance however were absolutely freezing. Our heater smelled like smoke for a few but I wonder if it was due to use using the heater for the first time. The smell went away shortly.
The pool was wonderfully warm but enclosed pools are the best cause it lacks venting. The smell was so strong. So I cracked a door open while we were inside. Instead of complaining like most people about everything lol. I would however be extra cautious as it appears they have covered over the hot tub with tile that differs from normal pool tile. Making it beyond slippery. The signs were no where near the tile. As you can see in the pic. Ones got a smooth surface while the other is rough for the pool deck.
Overall it’s not a bad stay. Kinda far from stuff if you don’t want to drive for food etc. Downtown is about 15 mins no traffic.

Read moreWe had a comfortable stay in that our room was generally clean and quiet.
The check-in was meh. We didn’t get any orientation for the hotel and where to find things, what time breakfast was available (no free breakfast for Bonvoy status for those who also rely on that when travelling), etc. I asked if we could get an upgrade to a larger room, another Bonvoy benefit when it’s available, and the guy replied with “not at the rate you’re paying”… we booked an official Marriott rate directly and an honest “nothing else was available” would have been more appropriate and far less off putting.
We were also bummed not to get more tips from the front desk on getting around town without a car. We opted to take an Uber into downtown earlier in the day so we didn’t have to worry about driving after some drinks and a late ghost tour. The front desk saw us waiting for our Uber but didn’t let us know that getting one back would be highly unlikely. We learned that there are absolutely no cabs or Ubers that operate at night to take us back to the hotel later in the evening. We had to go into the Hotel Gettysburg and ask for help and even then the best they could do was give us the name of a guy who drives tourists around on the side. He was lovely and got us home, but had we known we would be stranded and feel unsafe without our car we would have driven ourselves.
We were disappointed in that was there was no free coffee available in the lobby. You can buy regular brewed Starbucks coffee from the bistro when it happens to be open but even then it’s $3+? For a Courtyard, this is just kind of cheap.
Overall, it was clean and quiet but I think we’d opt to stay closer to...
Read moreThis hotel is clean, welcoming and has everything you need for your stay. The only thing missing is the ability to bring our dog (which a lot of the Marriot hotels allow). Other than that, the front desk folks are helpful, kind and wonderful. The rooms are spotless, spacious and the bathrooms are super clean. Showers have fabulous stream of water flow and nice hot water. The bathrooms even have a small private toilet area, in case you are sharing the bathroom. There is a table in the room, under the desk that you can pull out for your family to eat dinner, or play games or work with their laptops. Plenty of electric facets to charge up all your devices and the internet is super speedy. The hotel itself is located in a parking lot and shares a nice pub for dining (keep in mind they do not deliver, so you will have to go there to pick up your food). Too bad we didnt look in advance and see that there were plenty of other places around to order from that did deliver. These menus are in your room. Another nice thing? There is a full-fledged movie theatre in the parking lot with reclining and rocking chairs. So fun and nice to just walk back to your hotel. The location is about 10 minutes away from the "main drag" of Gettysburg and about 20 minutes away from any battlefield tours (which I highly recommend the bus tours). If you like to go a bit further, there is a fun miniature golf place nearby too. If you have a student at Gettysburg college and are visiting, this hotel is just far enough away from the chaos of the hotels right near the school. We forgot our toothbrushes and toothpaste of all things.. no worries. Marriot front desk gave us BOTH. They...
