The room was standard, nothing exceptional or noteworthy, either good or bad. This is not an upscale place, so as long as your expectations are that of a Best Western and not a Ritz Carlton, you should be happy.
Note: this is a motel, not a hotel. Meaning that the rooms open directly to the parking lot and is relatively small with two levels. I did not see an elevator to the second floor, but was in a first-floor room and may have overlooked it.
The staff was friendly and check-in and check-out wasn’t overly difficult. I booked through Expedia, in what was supposed to be a room with a king sized bed, but the reservation was set for two double beds. I ended up paying an extra $80 dollars for a room with a king bed.
I stayed for seven nights and by far the most negative aspect of the motel was the nightly gatherings in the parking lot. There were quite a few construction trucks in the parking lot, and every night, between 6pm and 11pm to 1am, it sounded as if there was a group of people tailgating before a football game outside my room. Some nights were quite loud and others not as disruptive.
The room is heated/cooled by an old fashioned wall unit instead of a wall thermostat. The fan continuously switches on and off, even when it is set to constantly run, which was disruptive the first couple nights. However, the unit quite effectively cooled the room.
The pillows are throw-sized. There were six lined up on a king sized bed. But you can order a foam or down pillow, which are standard size. I requested a foam pillow, delivered by housekeeping the day after I arrived and was satisfied. (7pm check-in, housekeeping was gone for the day) The sheets fit the bed well, no slipping sheets during the night. The bed had a top sheet, light blanket and thin bedspread. No duvet, which I’ve come to expect. I do believe you can request extra blankets though. The bed was firmer than I like as a side-sleeper and I woke up in the mornings with sore shoulders.
The room had a clock/charging station on the nightstand with two regular plugs and two USB hookups.
Housekeeping was good, checking to see if I needed extra soap, shampoo and conditioner.
There is a washing machine and drier on the premises and accepts credit cards. The drink and snack machines do not take credit cards and have a limited selection. For instance, there were no diet drink options.
A daily breakfast is available in the morning until 9am, but I did not take advantage of this service. Also, the bar is only open until 9pm, but the hotel gave me a voucher for a free drink, which was nice.
There was no up charge for “faster internet”, and the standard, free connection was good enough to stream video without any problems.
Considering the significant price difference between this motel and other hotels in the area, and with the help of white noise to drown out the parking lot situation, I’d...
Read moreStayed here 12/5-12/8, 2016. 2 rooms for our party of 6. The BAD... The ONLY reason I cannot give 5 stars is because of the train. If you stay in the 3rd (pet-friendly) building on the north side the train is SO LOUD and it runs all the time! My last night there the whistle blew (5 times each trip) at 10:50 and 11:10 and 11:25, then throughout the night. (Sleep was intermittent at best) My husband was in another room facing the pool in a different building and never heard the train. Each of our AC/heat units made odd noises but we did not report them as they ran fine and we saw workers there replacing others so we figured they were probably making the rounds. We started our move in with the rudest, most wild travelers you could imagine. One literally skateboarded into my 9 yr old son (who was bringing our suitcase down the sidewalk). Of course, I was furious and made a call to the front desk. (It is posted skateboarding is prohibited) The GOOD... The front desk immediately responded by 1) finding my husband & boys a new room away from the "rowdy crowd". 2) the skateboarder was confronted and it did not happen again (until briefly on our last night there). The rooms were clean. Really Clean! The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The washers & dryers are great and they take credit cards. The pool is beautiful and big. They serve a really great breakfast every morning too. The housekeeping is EXCELLENT! The front desk STAFF is so polite and attentive to your needs. The grounds are beautiful & well maintained. Location is GREAT! Food & shopping just minutes away and you can be to the beach in 10 minutes, too! Stuart is an awesome place to visit!
*SIDENOTE: The customers need to stop being so lazy & irresponsible and PICK UP after YOUR PETS and put your trash in the receptacles (which are everywhere. This is OUR planet! Keep it picked up!!) I saw one worker out picking up trash early on the 7th. Parking here can be a little tough, too, but all-in-all it is a great hotel! The staff works really hard to keep it looking good & take care of you.
Great job Best Western...
Read moreThe hotel itself is beautiful. Wonderful area clean rooms unfortunately though the staff needs to be trained in customer service. Let me clarify that, the manager (Neemish) needs to be trained for customer service. I will try to make this short and simple. My husband is a hard-working man and has been staying here while working down in Stuart and had been for about 3 weeks. He tells the staff member as of this past Thursday to extend is stay for another week and that he was going home for 2 days and it would be right back. Saturday comes he gets a phone call from the lady from the service desk she asked politely if he was still in the room and would be needing the room he responded Yes. She said not a problem and she would see him this coming up week. Needless to say my husband got up throw over 3 hours to get to the room so he can report for work too fine that the housekeepers has thrown away his work boots, Chargers for phones and about $100 worth of food for this coming week. ( Brand new food). Non Opened. Both perishable and non-perishable foods. I understand that they are not responsible for our things but when he clarified he was not checking out even after he had just extended his stay , they should not have gone into that room threw away his things. To make matters worse when my husband brought this up to the manager this morning all he could say was if you didn't like it you could check out it wasn't his responsibility. A simple I'm sorry it's a mistake or hey let's try to fix it would have been nice. Was that too hard Neemish? Its called customer service. Maybe just try being polite what a guy wanting you a little bit further. My husband was polite to you and just wanted to know where was his things and you told him if he didn't like it he needed to go great job great great job...
