I was going into Publix one day and noticed that Beryl had a banner that says " WE BUY GOLD. I went in to price out a gold chain I wanted to sell . I was in the Jewelry business for many years -- I asked them a very simple question - "How much are you paying per penny weight for 14K gold". The stupid lady behind the counter said I had to talk to the owner ( Sooooo, why was she behind the counter in the first place?) Then the owner walks up ( very snotty person by the way). I asked her the same question "How much are you paying per penny weight for 14K" . She had the nerve to tell me she ONLY works in grams * FLAG GOES UP * -- If you see the price of gold per once its ALL WAYS done in the TROY system - Troy pound, Troy once and of course penny weight. She still said she only works in grams so I TOLD her I was a jeweler and my mind only "works" in penny weights , she just starred at me in confusion. I then said "Well maybe you have a calculator some where" to which she sharply responded " We have many calculators" . BUT SHE NEVER OFFERED ME ONE !!!! She just took my chain and gave me a low ball price of $245 Soooo , she NEVER told me the price per gram like she said she worked in and said she would!!!! I just looked at her and laughed in her face , I told her "Your not even close, the guys across the street offered twice as much for the same chain 10 minutes before." DONT TRUST THESE PEOPLE !!!! When they try to confuse a person that knows gold better than them -- WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL SAY AND DO TO YOU !!!!!!!!
If you are looking to purchase watches or have your watches serviced, go to The Watch Aficionado just a slight bit north and west in Port St. Lucie instead of here -- you won't regret it!
I brought in two watches to have Beryl's watchmaker upgrade with new sapphire crystals. I specified that I'd like one to have a flat sapphire (it was a thin bauhaus-style dress watch) and the other to have a double-domed sapphire (it was a medium-sized dive watch). I was initially quoted a 2-3 week turnaround time due to their existing workload, which was totally fine for the price.
However, the work took nearly 6 weeks, a flat sapphire was installed in the Casio dive watch instead of a double-domed sapphire without asking for my approval (it looks good, but I didn't appreciate the sub-in without any disclosure), and there was no offer to reduce the price despite the unapproved crystal sub-in and extended wait time.
My out-the-door price for this was not high, but that shouldn't matter in a jeweler/watchmaker's approach to customer service. Further, I had to call back to check in with them at every point in the process to find out why it was taking so long -- this should be the watchmaker's responsibility to keep the customer apprised.
I will not be returning. For what it's worth, Mike was good on the phone, and once he knew that I wanted to be apprised more frequently, he took to following up with me independently toward the end. Mike has hustle, which is more than I can say for the other watch team...
Read moreMy Breitling stopped working and I needed to get it fixed by a reputable place. I had taken it previously to another watch repair shop but decided I need to find a new place. I quickly started researching places to get it fixed. Beryl & Co came up with great reviews so I decide to stop in. Shea greeted me and I explained what was going on with my watch. She promised me someone would be in touch no later than a week. It was around Christmas so I thought that was more than a generous time frame. I was given a call later that week with a fair quote. I did call a few times just to check the status. I can be a pest. LOL! Everytime Shea would answer the phone and reassure me my watch was being repaired. It was a sentimental gift so I just wanted to make sure everything was fine. Let me tell you, I had NOTHING to worry about. I picked up my watch about a week later and it ran perfectly. Shea, you are such a kind a sweet person, even during a hectic holiday season. Thank you for always reassuring me that my watch was fine and laughing at my unique sense of humor. I will 100% recommend you all to everyone. Thanks...
