This Inn, located in the quaint town of Sugar Creek, is clean, comfortable, and cheap, Rooms cost between $50 and $60 a night. We stayed in one of the train rooms. It was small, but the bed was more comfortable than some other places we have stayed--I didn't wake up with a sore back, and got a good night's sleep. The television is small, I mean really small, and there wasn't a good selection of channels. Not really a problem except in the evening, I you want to watch something before going to bed. Also, while most of the hotels in Amish country offer a breakfast, even others around the same price range, Sugar Creek Village Inn does not. Most days I would suggest just heading out and catching breakfast at Boyds and Whutherman, (it's only a short drive to Berlin,) on Sundays, most places are closed. McDonalds anyone? If you are in a tight budget, I would recommend it, but next time I am in Amish Country, I will probably choose someplace else.

We stayed in one of the converted train cars, and we were very happy with it. Our room was very clean, and there were several features you'd expect from higher end hotels: mints on the pillow case, a welcome note that included an after hours phone number in case we needed to contact someone from the inn, a basket with coffee and bottled water, and pictures hung on the wall. The room had a fancy tin look to it - a very nice touch. The employee that checked us in was super friendly and made sure we knew where to find coffee, ice, etc. let us know we were welcome to sit on the inn's large porch if we'd like to. We paid twice as much for a room in a well known hotel chain two weeks ago and had a terrible experience. The Sugarcreek Inn was a very pleasant surprise, and we are already planning another stay.

It’s 12:52am and I’m wide awake—not because of the hotel itself, which is actually quite nice—but because the business next door parked a refrigerated semi-trailer directly outside my hotel room. The diesel engine kicks on every 20 minutes and runs for about 10, creating a low, constant rumble that literally shakes the walls. As a CDL driver myself, I was trained to be considerate about where and how I park—especially near people trying to sleep. I called the front desk to explain the situation, but my concerns fell on deaf ears. It’s now been nearly a week with no follow-up or response from management, which gave me no choice but to leave an honest review. I paid to sleep, not to be kept up all night. This could have easily been handled better.

The idea of staying in an old railroad car sounded unique, and when we arrived, the railroad yard motif was attractive. Unfortunately the quaint railroad motif ends at the door. The car interiors had been stripped of any vestiges of their earlier days. At least ours was. It was just a small (emphasis on small) unremarkable motel room. We anticipated that the interiors would have been restored to their original charm. If you are curious about the railroad theme you can see all there is to see from outside without taking a room in one of the cars.||In retrospect I realize that the photos of the rooms on the website were mostly of the “suites”, not the railroad cars, and the photos of the railroad cars were clearly taken using a fish-eye lens. If you plan to stay more than one night – get a suite. (We were told that the RR car was the only thing available.)||The room was clean, as was the bath and the fixtures relatively new; however the room is very cramped. Not for the claustrophobic faint of heart. The very comfortable bed dominated the room, but the other furnishings were disappointing. The wall heater- a/c was less than two feet from the side of the bed, (think: noise) and there was no room for an open suitcase on that side. The TV on the wall had a screen slightly larger than my laptop. (Bring your binoculars) If it were any larger, though, the person sleeping on that side of the bed would bang their head trying to get around the large bedpost. (My wife learned the hard way) The walls were paper thin and it sometimes sounded like our “neighbors” were in our room. When they ran the water or took a shower it sounded like they were using a fire hose. There was a small table and two chairs along the wall opposite the heater, but with one leaf up there was barely enough room to squeeze by the bed. ||Wi-Fi was only available in the office lobby, not available from the room, but we had our own hotspot along. The only microwave was also over at the lobby. Our refrigerator was so small we couldn’t fit our milk in and close the door, and on the lowest setting everything was frozen by morning. If you are staying a night and have only an overnight bag the room works OK. We stayed longer and needed to “spread out” a bit and that wasn’t possible.||The suites looked nice and were closer to the microwave and coffee maker. Lots of attractions including...

My husband and I were driving to Ohio to attend inkcarceration in Mansfield. We stayed three nights. It’s about an hour away but the drive was super pretty so we weren’t too worried about it. It was a little hard to find and there were a couple minor things I could complain about but nothing crazy. It’s in a cute little town, feels safe and it’s SUPER quiet, and not too many people which obviously was a plus. The staff member we spoke with was polite and helpful, and the place was pretty clean from what I saw. We got a room in the lower floor, just like a bedroom in the basement, it’s different from a commercial hotel but it was well kept and had a nice homey feel. It was pretty dark and the bed was real comfortable so we slept good. There’s little to no service in the town or anywhere around it, they provide WiFi but I only connected to it if I was in or around the office but our room was in the basement so it’s understandable, no big deal to us. They have a cute little Keurig machine inside, needless to say it was nice to have some quick hot chocolate after being in the pouring rain until 11 at night, just added to the homey vibe. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and we’re glad we got to support a local business over a chain hotel, would...

Room was very clean!!! Bed was horrible. They put us in the basement so no carpet in the room. Between the horrible bed, the air conditioner that was very loud and the dehumidifier that was loud and would run a while and shut off we got very little sleep. On Friday night it rained hard. At 4am got up to go to bathroom and the floor was covered in water. Had to call the owner as no one there, using my cell phone no phones in the room, no kleenex and no local information, and she said they have a leak somewhere when it rains and to put bath towels down. They of course were soaked so every time we went to bathroom we got wet. In the morning I called again because we needed to take showers and the floor was wet and we had no towels. Man came wiped the floors with a dry towel and gave us towels to shower. He stated they need to tear up and find the leak but they are always booked. Money more important I guess. We went out for the day and came back about 4pm to find no one had been in our room to clean, empty trash or bring towels. Will NEVER stay there again. There was no offer of any compensation for all the trouble we had. The basement room was right at the...
