We had the most horrible experience at this hotel. We booked a one-bedroom room three weeks prior for a lake boating trip. After spending all day on the lake, we checked in at 6:30 PM only to find out they only accept credit cards, unless you're Canadian, then they accept debit. Thankfully, we had an emergency credit card, or we wouldn't have been able to stay in the room we booked.
The lady behind the counter, Laura, was extremely unhelpful. She told us, "I don't know what to tell you, it's your cards that are bad." Another staff member mentioned there was a glitch with some of the credit machines, which is why our debit cards wouldn't work. Despite having our card on file, they refused to accept cash and even had an ATM right behind me.
When we finally got our keys, we discovered they put us in a king suite, which is a single room with a king bed and a couch, not the one-bedroom we had booked. When I returned to the front desk, I told the young man that was there that I was put into the wrong room. Laura made sure to come out as soon as she saw me from the back. Laura said that the NEW owners took our room for themselves and that the GM told her to still charge us the one bedroom rate, which was $50 more than the room we received.
I requested to switch to a two-queen room, which was $110 compared to $190, but Laura insisted she would have to charge my card again. As a line of people started forming behind me, I pulled up the hotel's website to show the rate for the king suite. Laura reluctantly agreed to discount the rate to $161 after taking my phone from me and looking at the days inn web site, but only after I insisted. She then said, "I don't think anything I do will make you happy, why don't I just check you out?" I told her what would make me happy is to be fair and give me the rate for the room I was put in and not try to upcharge me because the owners took my room.
She rolled her eyes, "I will just give you the $161 rate." in a rude clipped tone. I said thank you I appreciate that. After asking for a receipt, she initially refused, stating they only give receipts at checkout. When I asked to take a picture of the computer screen with the new rate, she finally provided a room registration with the discounted rate and made sure to circle the new rate in red marker giving it to me with a scowl on her face.
This experience was incredibly frustrating, especially since I visit this hotel regularly for lake boating trips and have never had such issues before. Laura was very rude and unprofessional. I strongly advise staying away...
Read moreLove, Love, Love the staff. Travis is a darling. My check in was seamless. I fell my first morning there and Juretta, Maddox, and Cathy were so kind to assist me. Each staff member greeted you. Ryan is wonderful. MaryAnn, is fabulous. The housekeeping staff SUPERB. Breakfast was Magnificent! I highly recommend it. Supper was out of this World. The food has improved greatly. The wait staff efficiently took care of us. Try the specials.. delectable The outdoor pool is wonderful especially for the kids. The indoor pool needs alot of maintenance/repairs. The gym was OK. The rooms were in need of a fresh coat of paint and the cracks spackled. There wasn't maintenance done in a long time. My fire dectector had the date 7.25.23.... checked? Expired? Either way. Out of date. 32" TV's could have been bigger. The hidden cameras in the hallways bothered me; they weren't very hidden and they are audio as well as video. Are there cameras in the rooms too? That made me very uncomfortable. There wasn't security there; unless it was that young guy driving around in the truck. . He did nothing. He couldn't even park the truck next to me ..he could have pulled right up, but just idle behind me then was extremely rude yelling at me. I would have given 5 stars, but the Maintenance and "security" was highly lacking and the cameras intrusive. These hotels "by Wyndham" are franchises. Corporate needs to perform unscheduled inspections of these properties to address health and safety issues before something...
Read moreListen people when i say this : This is an older hotel that desperately needs a makeover . The restaurant on the first floor is excellent . From their waitresses to the food it’s great but the decor in this hotel is atrocious . Come on guys get up to date on some things . The premises is gorgeous . From the flowers to the mountains it’s gorgeous but again we come back to this atrocious hotel decor . Another thing that i found to be over the top was the pet fee . $ 150.00 non refundable fee. That just isn’t right . i’ve had hotels charge me the fee but upon check out credit it back to me cause my dog is 10lbs and hurts nothing plus sleeps in her own crates bed .If you can make it another 30-40 miles down the road you can find cheaper and better if your using the hotel as a stopover and leave . I’d your using the hotel as a multi night stay this was be a good stop for you . If you can overlook the decor then this is a nice stop . Touring the grounds and eating at the restaurant . One more thing to note : The hotel was very very clean . They seem to have had a good housekeeping crew because the times i interacted with them they were all very nice . And it shows in the cleanliness of the rooms . sid you can cope with the 150.00 or so a night fee and you want these things than this is the stop for you !!! One last thing : Very close to several different fast food restaurants and gas stations !!! Very helpful when on...
