Hotel South Tampa & Suites — Hotel in Tampa

Overall an acceptable place to stay but going forward it will be low on my list of options when considering staying in Tampa again.

The facility upkeep is good & the building, pool, & parking lot cleanliness is also good.

The age of the building is starting to show through in various areas but there have been efforts made to minimize the age exposing itself.

Rooms are spacious, comfortable beds, large shower, nice kitchenette, & good AC.

Rooms could use an update. Small things like replacing all the loose receptacles throughout the rooms as well as furniture replacement for the items that are showing damage & deterioration.

Our room in particular had a toilet that was so loose you might feel like you could tip over off it, so little things like this hurt the overall image and sentiment of a client experience, as well as the lack of bathroom soap refills during room service, the non- functioning microwave that we thankfully were able to repair, & the missing kitchenette utensils which thankfully we were able to get the following morning.

Having a checklist to verify everything is refilled & working seems like basic preparation.

Breakfast hours are a little narrow, the most common duration I've seen is 6-10 & here they do 6-9. In addition the setup of the breakfast hot foods area is small, poorly thought out, & does not keep up with the flow of guests consuming the food. Frequently I found myself eating cereal or yogurt because no hot foods were available or there was only 1 item available like a biscuit.

There is a lot that could be done in terms of layout, food options, food display, etc to enhance this area of their service offering.

The pool is centrally located in the parking lot & is a good size, this was a nice feature to have.

The gym is essentially non existent, a stinky, corner room, with broken or deteriorated equipment, they might as well not even offer it at this point.

Overall for your basics its okay, location is great, don't expect...

Only here for one day. The gentleman who checked me in was very polite and informative. He even automatically upgraded my room. The beds are thick and comfortable. The room was clean. I always check for bugs no matter where I go including bed bug and did not see any. We had what they called a suite so it included a full size fridge, sink, k-cup coffee maker and a two burner stove top, few dishes and silverware. They even had a mini dishwasher which also includes cleaning tabs to clean the dishes. Nice walk in shower. They don't give those cheap little soaps. They actually have a nice set up on the shower wall that has 3 bottles you pump out for soap, shampoo and conditioner. Next to the bathroom sink they have a similar set up with hand washing soap. Breakfast was good. Offered more then a lot of other hotels. Eggs, cool looking pancake maker, sausage, cereal, milk, juice machine, muffins, bread for toast, selection of fruit, biscuits and gravy I think there were a few other things but I can't remember. The biscuits were kinda hard but we also got there 30 min before they were ending breakfast so maybe they were sitting awhile. The pool was clean and open till 10pm. I will not give even one star . We check in on first day and our room has no hand soap in soap dispenser and one almost ran out toilet paper . Than next day whoever did the house keeping in room they didn’t even do proper bedding . They just spred blanket on top of pillows. They still didn’t re fill hand soap and didn’t clean washroom . Moreover next morning I called and told them to do proper housekeeping we came in room at end of the day they only change hand soap dispenser and old garbage one they left on top of counter and didn’t clean washroom where it was totally visible sand . I had to call frontdesk and told them . It was 11 o’clock at nigh my kids were sleeping they offer me to get different room 🙄. For breakfast we do pay extra in our room rate so in the morning we don’t have to search for breakfast. they ran out of stuff at 8:30 before their time is over at 9. There were no begal and so we were okay but next day the same thing no begal and they told us they haven’t got delivery. They should know better if they are running this business. Also I was surprised as I saw there is no penut butter available for breakfast as that is very comman that everyone want in the morning and I asked and girl said lot of people ask for it .
