Hotel Caravana — Hotel in Town of Amenia

The Airstream is fun and the location with the drive in movies is lovely. But there were too many problems that just reflect a lack of attention and effort for customer experience to recommend. Phone to desk doesn’t work. No WiFi code or information in the camper (we had to walk to the restaurant to get the code). Cushions aren’t stored in a dry place so we couldn’t sit outside because they were all soaked, even though the rain had stopped earlier in the day. Outdoor fireplace wouldn’t light. Restaurant delivers to the camper but missed one out of our four orders. Breakfast was $24 for two people and was a plastic container of day-old fruit salad, some decaf-only coffee pods, and a couple bananas.

We did mention the issues to the management afterwards and they said we could have told them and they would have fixed the problems. Two issues with this response: we had a half dozen things go wrong all the way through to breakfast. Do we want to spend our $400/night hotel experience watching the staff come do the tasks they should have completed before we arrived? And, instead of offering a discounted future stay or partial refund as most hotels do when they miss the mark, they sort of blamed it on us for not contacting them (note there is no cellular service at the site, the phone is broken, and there’s not info about the WiFi unless you go ask). High marks for advertising and presentation, but low marks on delivery. The camper is more expensive than a typical hotel stay for the area, but the advertised amenities help rationalize the cost. Unfortunately, several amenities weren’t offered during our stay (room service, bikes, arcade) and we experienced rudeness several times from the staff; when feedback was shared with mgmt and compensation requested for the lack of services provided, the mngr dismissed our feedback and declined to refund any portion of the cost. Had the experience matched the trailer decor, we would have had a wonderful stay and returned and recommended the hotel to others. The staff is rude and unwilling to work with patrons. With that totally left aside, the accommodation itself is quite poor. No number 2’s allowed in the the trailer, no potable water, partially functional fridge, barely usable shower, broken bathroom door that allows unwelcome smells to enter the sleeping areas, along with broken seals on the airstream that result in possibly mold?
