Stopped in for a Authentic Mexican meal, menu looked good. We ordered guac and chips - they were well liked by my kids. We ordered 3 Jarritos, 2 burritos, Azteca Bowl Supreme( they forgot my nopales but the wait was to long to fix), quesadilla, and 2 single tacos (chorizo). Amount of food was good, lacks flavor, seems like a lot of the Chipotle sauce was used for the flavor. Wait time was a long wait (30min ish), we finished and paid. For the food it is pricey when your talking burritos and quesadillas.

Best Mexican food I've had in a very long time and it's in the middle of nowhere. I implore/behoove you to come here as soon as possible. I had the carnitas tacos and, unfortunately for me, I had to bring them home because of a previous VSG surgery but I need you to know that this is one of the very rare times I've wished I didn't have that surgery. I immediately ordered dinner from here for tonight and tomorrow. Their Al Pastor tacos and burritos are also stellar.

This restaurant opened approximately in 2019, replacing the lot vacated by Railhead Jerk. There is another branch of Avocado Café in Millerton by the border to Connecticut. This branch in Amenia is cozy and brightly decorated. Friendly staff and credit/debit cards are accepted. There is an alfresco section when in season. The food is delicious, though there were no desserts during this review except churros at $6 for two with a scoop of ice cream.

I heard great things about the food at Avacados in Amenia. It’s been on my list for a while but unfortunately I didn’t get to try… and I don’t think I will because the woman behind the grill sure was rude.

I was with my four year old who was in tears because he had to use the restroom. I went in to ask if he can, seeing the sign that there was no public restroom, assuming I would need to purchase something and planning to. She didn’t give us the chance. When the waitress asked her if we can use the bathroom, the woman behind the grill said to the waitress, in Spanish that she didn’t care, if we didn’t purchase anything he couldn’t use the restroom. The waitress asked again, telling her he was a young boy… and she again said she didn’t care.

The waitress looked super disappointed and discouraged…. At that point we left. And won’t be going back.

This is a delicious, family-run place serving food that is made with love. Not your run-of-the-mill small town Mexican joint serving huge Margaritas (not to knock those!). Sopes? Killer! Nopales on the menu - amazing! Enmoladas? Fire. Al pastor -a bit on the salty side but still better than anything I’ve had in the area. This is a great spot to stop at if you’re coming from the Wassaic metronorth station and are hungry after a long ride from the city. Hope they continue to get good business!...
