Temperance Hall — Hotel in Town of Brookhaven

Temperance Hall was seriously a GODSEND. Truly 100000% our August 2019 wedding weekend would not have been complete without this revitalized historic property and Alison & Rob, the owners by our side. Together they could not have been friendlier, genuine, accommodating, easy-going, & helpful through it all!! Looking back on our planning journey, perhaps we should have found our housing and then our venue, because of how important having “a weekend experience” and house was to us. We were at the midst of giving up on our idea, running into so many roadblocks & logistic errors along the way- not allowing us to commit to anything we found previously. After almost throwing in the towel on our dream weekend idea, on literally our final online search together, we found Temperance Hall!! The charming pink door hooked me in, and then the indoor style and décor of each room, the pool with surrounding lush grass, I had all the heart-eyed emoji feelings looking at the pictures online. We sent an inquiry immediately. Alison got back to us promptly & we scheduled a tour the next weekend. We learned they had just listed their property & were finishing renovations. Alison’s bubbly personality was contagious and matched the loveliness of this property filled with so much natural beauty, character, & sunlight that we were soul-searching for! It was a true match & gift!!! While this was Alison & Rob’s first ever contract of this kind at Temperance at the time- they did not only understand our vision, but were totally beyond supportive, enthusiastic, kind, generous, & spirited about our plans! We locked it in obviously!! Now in the proceeding months that came, Alison & Rob were prompt with answering emails & questions, helping us navigate and problem solve through various scenarios of restaurants & catering options in town, first-look spots, insurance, tent rental companies, & more. By early spring we decided to do an off site rehearsal dinner in Bellport to keep every clean & tidy the night before our wedding day. We did another walk-through of the property before our wedding too at our request, because it was at that point, we wanted to finalize logistics for our next day 50 person BBQ in terms of where catering, pool & lawn chairs/games could all be set-up. By the time our wedding weekend arrived, Alison & Rob warmly greeted us with wine in the fridge and cards for us & our guests in each room, which were all sparkling clean and immaculate. They felt like old-time friends who gave us the “my home is your home” type welcome and hospitality matching the culture and pride of the sweet & delightful Bellport community we fell in love with. We knew they were available over the weekend if we needed them and we were appreciative to know this, but also thankful for the trust & privacy. Having Temperance to ourselves for the weekend, set the stage, not only fulfilling my vision in terms of a chic, elegant, & stylish space to get ready in with my girls, but also allowed my now husband and I to throw the most classy, one-of-a-kind, & badass next-day after wedding BBQ ever. The house and backyard are so well maintained & thoughtfully decorated; it seriously was a treasure & special marker for us in all this. Our family & friends were beyond impressed & floored, raving about the whole arrangement & set-up telling us we totally set the bar high for any/all future events. The grounds are picturesque & inclusive for everyone to have a good time - we certainly were blessed to have the most perfect weather too. When we think about our wedding weekend, we owe so much credit to Alison & Rob. It was stand-out, magical, memorable, unique, wicked fun, & beyond incredible thanks to them and the Temperance platform they gave us. Everyone had a comfortable & luxurious experience and it was all we could have wished for & more!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you, for everything- we sincerely are so grateful for you & can’t wait to be back to visit for an anniversary trip, getaway, or maybe another version of a family/friend reunion at some point...

We chose to stay at Temperance Hall for our wedding weekend, where Alison, Rob, and Joanne welcomed us like family. The Temperance Hall crew accommodated our hair and make up team so we were all ready on time, the two-bedroom suite was beautifully decorated, and it was so relaxing to stay by the pool.

The Loft, the two-bedroom suite, is spacious and emulates the laid-back yet tasteful Bellport style. There is a full kitchen, equipped with everything you would need to make a coffee in the morning to have a BBQ in the evening on the large deck space with a grill. The living room is filled with interesting books and there are two bathrooms equipped with soaps, lotions, and toiletries. You will feel right at home.

The Inn, in general, is in the perfect location in Bellport, steps away from main street with the plethora of coffee shops and beachy shops, we couldn't even tell you our favorite as they're all worth stopping in.

We had a very disappointing stay at Temperance Hall in the Ho-Hum Room. No one properly checked us in or showed us how to use the coded lock system on the door. Several basic items were missing from the room, including water glasses, tissues, and even a bedside lamp for reading. Additionally, there were no windows whatsoever in our room for ventilation and light, only French doors which served as the entrance to the room. There was a coffee machine in the 'Sunroom,' but no hot water for tea, even though it was advertised as being offered on the website. The most egregious discovery was learning that our room was adjacent to the owner's family's quarters with little soundproofing. Through the shared wall and door, we heard every time the phone rang and every conversation the owner's family had while we were in our room.
