I have had an extremely negative experience at this Quality Inn. From disrespectful staff to a broken heater to a flooding sink to dirty and blood stained bedding to missing amenities to cockroaches! I have pictures and videos of everything. The final straw was when we called and requested towels and toilet paper ... the worker at the front desk literally responded “This is room 106...you make nothing but trouble for us!!". If asking for towels and toilet paper is trouble, then you must be a very lazy front desk worker. The worker then had a nasty attitude when I came to exchange the towels. I didn’t appreciate his attitude or being treated like this. The fact that the worker said our room number indicates the staff and management spoke poorly about us.
We both worked remotely the whole time in a room with a broken heater (we are in upstate NY it was snowing recently!) while visiting family and I also had a foot surgery the day before checking in so I could not walk much. So how could we be making trouble for you?
The only time I ever spoke to front desk was to ask about the missing microwave and when they said some rooms don't have it and told us to USE THE LOUNGE MICROWAVE, I said "isn't this false advertising?" to which the front desk worker had nothing to say. After all, we paid for a room that was advertised on THEIR website with a microwave as the amenities. Therefore, we paid for services that were not delivered as agreed upon. So am I supposed to just stay quiet about that? See the screenshot of the Gates NY Quality Inn page listing microwave as one of amenities.
Every morning and night, we heard the workers outside the door laughing and yelling. See the video taken at 11:30PM of the loud workers. There was a maintenance woman screaming for 30+ minutes outside our door about her pay, screaming profanities.
The sink was flooded. See photo.
The fridge did not properly cool or even freeze. we arrived to hotel with water all over the freezer compartment
The heater needed to be "replaced" according to management ... why wasn't this inspected BEFORE we were assigned this room? We are in upstate NY in November. The room was frequently cold!
Hair was found on the toilet and dirt around the toilet. Bathtub was unacceptable.
The plug in bathroom didn’t work. The test : reset button was stuck.
Pet friendly but no designated pet area.
Beer cans and cigarette butts all over the entrances.
I feel extremely disrespected and not valued here at all. The fact that the worker said "This is room 106" makes us feel like they have been talking about us in a negative manner.
I will be taking this to corporate. There is no excuse to treat paying guests like this. Your staff is...
Read moreThis was a low-end hotel that offers a decent experience. One perk is that it is located right near the Erie Canal Heritage Trail, which is a pleasant place to walk (in both directions). It was clean, quiet (possibly because few people were staying there), and comfortable (heating unit worked nicely, bed was super comfortable, and I slept well!), but a bit rough around the edges. The toilet was poorly mounted on the wall and wobbled when I sat on it. Bathroom had no fan. Faucet in bathroom sink was too short and too near the edge of the sink. The lighting in the hotel was a bit off...all cool lighting. Bathroom was under-lit (no light over shower, shower was dark with the main light on.) Seriously this hotel could HUGELY improve the experience by replacing all the cool-temp LED lights with warm-temp (2700K) ones. Why they went with the cool lighting is beyond me, it's ugly and makes the place look sterile. Also, the decor choices are poor. Dark gray walls in the hallway just makes it look cramped and industrial. This hotel also seemed understaffed. The two staff people I interacted with at the desk were SO nice, but they were the only people I saw the whole time. Most of the hotel was empty. The gym was closed. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, but it had great fresh clementines which were a delight. If I owned this hotel, first thing I'd do was replace all the lighting with warm lighting, and repaint the walls, proably a warmer, lighter brown or beige color. Oh, also, it's not the most important thing but the landscaping is terrible, there are ugly sheets of plastic landscaping paper (why do landscapers even use this? I'd fire any landscaper who put any non-biodegradable material into the ground) coming out of one of the beds. There is a row of half-dead black pines along the parking lot. (Ugly. Non-native and actually kinda invasive in the Rochester region. I recommend northern whitecedar - Thuja occidentalis - native, looks better in this climate, and makes an outstanding privacy hedge for a property edge.) Also, ditch the Lipton tea at breakfast (why do people buy this) and serve something like Ahmad tea instead, it's not much more expensive but like 10 times as good. So yeah, a few simple things this place could do to up...
Read moreIf you like sketchy then this place is for you!! From the outside it looks ok. Looks. But it’s not. Think Pandora’s Box. When you open the squeaky door you let the bad out. Or maybe it’s sucking you in. #hotelcalifornia
Elevator. There’s no certificate. It bounces. Feels like rubber bands are pulling it. Like you may get stuck or drop depending on its mood that day. If you want to stay there, hope for the drop to put you out of your misery. And remember the certificate of inspection. Yeah. Another review said it was set to expire. Clearly they took it down rather than make sure it’s functional. Who needs to inspect elevators anyway!!!
Touchdown on the 3rd floor. Room 312. Half of the Devils number. Hallway smells like cat pee. We saw a couple when we were coming out of the elevator. They looked concerned for us. I think one of them signaled for us to run. They may be trapped there.
Get to the room. Smells like weed, smoke, and sweaty locker room. Toilet. Not even close to attached to the floor. Sink. Cracked. Missing the plunger. Bathroom not clean. TV stand. Random sticky stuff on it. Sheets. Not clean. My flat iron went crazy and lost power. (Worked when we got home). Other outlet. Hanging out of the wall. Wet spot on the floor. No where near a water source. What is the random water? Pee? Vomit? We don’t know but we stepped in it. Alarm clock. Unplugged and stuffed in a drawer. Smoke detector. It was there but unpowered. No battery. With electric issues (clearly) I might want to know if the place started to burn down. Neighbors. Think they live there. They are cooking in the rooms. Also why a smoke detector may need to be functioning. Light. Hahahaha. You don’t need it. Dark hides the scary that you are now going to stay in.
So dear readers. If you want to be in a place that you may not survive…this is for you! I’ve been in my share of sketchy places but this one wins the award for...
