Barry and Denise are amazing hosts!
Raindrops on Roses was my 1st experience with a B&B. We wanted to stay someplace that was more personable and home like. When I found their website, I was immediately attracted to the decor. I LOVE antiques! We booked our stay for the Tiffany Rose suite.
Shortly after we booked our stay, we received an email from Barry. He asked if we were staying for anything inparticular (wedding, anniversary, etc.). He also asked if we had any dietary restrictions because he prepares breakfast every morning of your stay.
When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by both Barry and Denise. They gave us a tour of the Victorian and then showed us to our room. I was in awe from the moment we pulled in the driveway. They also gave us some ideas for places to eat and things to do.
Now let me tell you about breakfast...all I can say is WOW! Our 1st morning we walked downstairs to the smell of bacon and piano music playing. We walked into the dining room to find 2 beautiful place settings for us, with juice, coffee and fresh fruit waiting. Denise came out and grabbed our plates, then brought them back out with the most delicious breakfast. We got to start our morning with a crustless quiche, hashbrowns, and "my dad's bacon", as Barry called it. So we got to start our morning, and every morning we were there, with full, happy bellies. It was a great start to each morning! Each morning was something different, but equally delicious.
If I have my choice, I will skip hotels and stick with B&Bs. If you are traveling to the Herkimer/Cooperstown area and not traveling with children under 13, I highly recommend the Raindrops on Roses B&B. Thank you, Barry and Denise, for making this such a warm and...
Read moreWe went to a concert at Turning Stone Casino and decided to stay at a B&B halfway between the concert venue and home. Raindrops and Roses is a Victorian decorated B&B. If you looked in a dictionary to find out about a B&B, there would be a picture of Raindrops and Roses. The owners, Denise and Barry are the ideal hosts. The right amount of superior hospitality and giving you your privacy. The building is such that they could’ve rented out 3 rooms, but they purposely decided on only offering 2 rooms, so they could provide a higher level of hospitality. We stayed in room #1. The room contained a comfortable queen size bed, a fireplace, a jacuzzi, and a small refrigerator. What more could you ask for. Downstairs are two public rooms for your enjoyment and relaxation, with one public room containing a player piano. As we were getting ready for the day, listening to the player piano trickle throughout the house was a nice touch. In addition to the two public rooms, there is a newly opened wine tasting room with a nice bar, where you can sample local wines. The last room was the eating room where we enjoyed very hearty breakfast with a variety of breakfast items, with coffee and tea. Barry’s breakfast is more than enough and tasty. If you have a sweet tooth, I highly recommend Barry’s famous chocolate chip cookies. The outdoor yard has a small waterfall, fire pit and a very nice porch to relax and enjoy a good book.
We highly recommend this B&B. 5 stars. You won’t be...
Read moreWe love returning to Raindrops on Roses B&B for a winter getaway. Owners Barry and Denise are kind, gracious hosts who want to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Breakfasts are abundant and delicious. The piano in the Music Room is available for guests who are pianists to play, or it is equipped with a disc player to entertain. The library is comfortable and has books and games for guests to use. The antiques are interesting and lovely to observe, and add to the beauty of the house. Everything is very clean and welcoming. This visit, we also went to Howe Caverns, about an hour away, for an interesting underground tour. In the past, we have stayed for weekend getaways to dine at nearby Beardslee Castle, visit the Munson Proctor Art gallery in nearby Utica, take a train ride in fall foliage, and we also enjoy exploring Herkimer's Mohawk Antique Co-op. So much is easily accessible...
