My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights while on the island. The location is fantastic, you can walk down to the water over a nice grass lawn. The help was nice enough. It is clear that this place is a work in progress so be aware of that. In talking to a local at a beach I learned that the owners acquired the place fairly recently. It used to be owned by an elderly couple who let the place get run down and then it was vacant for some time. But it is obvious that the new owners are working hard to bring things up to snuff. It's gonna take some time I'm afraid. The cafe was open and bustling with folks the days we were there, and it clearly had seen a recent update. Bed was comfortable, room was relatively clean. Hallways could have used some deep cleaning as cobwebs were observed in ceiling corners and light fixtures. A nice feature was the hallways had bookshelves with plenty of selections. The common area had comfortable old couches, but hopefully those will be updated someday. I'm a birder and I had 3 first sightings on this property! And we also saw a fox milling around. 3 stars for this place that I would say has tons of potential and hopefully a bright future. Sadly, next time I am on the island I will seek someplace else to stay, but I hope the potential that I see in the property is realized sooner rather than later. But it will take a lot of work. The owners seemed capable of pulling it off. I would really like to come back someday and see a nicely updated place! One last thing. The first three reviews on here smell like bots with goofy names and very few...
Read moreThis resort has so much potential. Good location, away from all the activity of Main Street, view of the lake. Kayaks for rent. Vegetation at shoreline and not deep enough for shore fishing. Restaurant has recently opened for breakfast and lunch (closed on Tuesday) with plans for dinner service. Limited hours at present. Indoor/Outdoor seating. Common area with sofa and wi-fi hookup. Room was clean and very basic. No frills. No pictures on walls. No nightstands. Older furniture. Did have a flatscreen TVs, good reception, hot shower. We were not informed there would be no housekeeping to the rooms..no trash removed, no beds made, no used towel removal or fresh ones brought in. Towels were provided upon request as was coffee for the pot but no fresh cups. Guess they are still on Covid protocol or they just don’t have staff. Would recommend giving this resort a chance but don’t expect ‘resort’ service…just a decent...
Read moreThis classic resort purchased several years back by a local islander has been getting well needed upgrades to rooms and property after years of neglect. The owner Dan has upgraded room carpeting & bedding and the several quaint cottages on site of this remarkable property. Also adding on site amenities like brand new kayaks for water adventures as he said one of the many best features of the island! We had a wonderful stay in a comfortable, clean room and bed! Also due to inclement weather a planned cook out we had planned, was moved to the resorts patio as he graciously allowed us to use for the event! This place offers many possibilities from weddings, to special retreats & a group events with a owner that is great to work with and million dollar views...
