The Inn in Westport provides comfortable accommodations in a lovely setting, on the banks of Lake Champlain.||The rooms bear names of famous authors. My stay was in the Shakespeare room. It’s a tidy, smallish room with a very comfortable bed and en suite bathroom that features a stand in shower. The decor in the room is nicely quirky and the room is in the front of the building, facing the town park, lake, and the main road through town. A window mounted air conditioner provides capable, quiet cooling. There was a bit of noise one morning as a group of motorcycles passed by but it was a minor issue.||The lobby of the Inn is on the side of the building - there is an obvious sign. Check-in was handled by a gentleman named Anthony. Keys (real keys) were provided for the room and for the lobby door as the lobby was locked after hours. Anthony walked through the policies, toured the public areas of the hotel, and then a tour of the room. ||All of the rooms are upstairs - I don’t recall seeing an elevator and the stairs are a bit narrow. There’s a coffee maker in the hall for free coffee and snacks and cold beverages that are $1 each on the honor system.||The Inn offers a buffet breakfast for $20. I didn’t partake in the breakfast due to my dietary preferences but my traveling companions mentioned that it was a standard and satisfactory offering - eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, cereal, tea, and coffee. ||The public areas are on the main level. There’s a comfy, well stocked library, an interesting collection of art, a gift shop, and some outside seating. The Inn sits across the street from a town park that sits on the lake. It has a pavilion and some seating scattered about. ||The free Wi-Fi was always available and seemed adequate.||Parking is available on the street for free. The Westport Marina is just down the hill from the Inn and includes The Galley Restaurant and Bar along with a gift shop and full service docking facilities. JAMBS on Main is a block away. It’s a deli and offers a variety of fresh morning coffees along with fresh, warm pastries.|| I do recommend the Inn and would stay there again if my travels took me...

I had been traveling for hours, coming from New York City, just wanting to escape—escape the noise, the pace, the constant movement. I didn’t have a plan, just a desire to breathe and feel something real again. And somehow, almost by accident, I ended up in Westport, NY.
I arrived at The Inn in Westport not expecting much, but from the very beginning, I was welcomed with the kindest energy by Antony. It was late, I was tired, but his warmth and attention immediately made me feel safe and cared for—something I hadn’t felt in a long time.
The next morning, I walked into a space that I still carry in my heart: the store inside the inn. I’ve never seen anything like it. The candles, the crystals, the books—everything was exactly where it needed to be, as if it had all been placed with intention and love. I didn’t want to leave. I wanted to buy everything. But more than the beauty of the objects, it was the energy of the place that moved me—a peace so deep, it’s hard to describe with words.
And just when I thought this place couldn’t touch me more deeply, I met Alexandra. We didn’t speak the same language, but somehow she understood me perfectly. She personally took us to the transportation station, making sure we were safe and at ease. That kind of kindness is rare, and I will never forget it.
On the way to the station, I looked out at the mountains, and I was in awe. The divine beauty of that landscape reminded me so much of my home in Colombia—the green, the silence, the majesty. I suddenly felt both far from home and completely at home. And in that moment, I knew something deep: the long journey had absolutely been worth it.
I came looking for rest, and I found magic. Thank you, Antony. Thank you, Alexandra. Thank you for living in such a sacred place—and for sharing it with us.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will carry this...
Read moreWe so enjoyed our stay at this lovely inn! We were working our way south along Lake Champlain on a multi-day bike trip, and were lucky enough to have booked here for one of our nights on the road. Our room was beautiful and spacious and had a view of the lake. The inn is perfectly located across the road from the lake, with a pretty park in between - we took advantage of the opportunity to get in the water. The only issue we encountered led to probably the best part of our stay - it was a Monday night in July, and there were no restaurants open within walking distance (and we were not up for more biking miles to get dinner!). Without missing a beat, the innkeepers offered to drive us to the grocery store to get food. We ended up having a lovely supper by the windows looking out at the lake - it was perfect. We so appreciated the innkeepers' over the top hospitality! Oh, and the other wonderful thing about the inn is that the first floor lounge doubles as a bookstore - heaven for everyone from an avid reader to the casual browser! Highly recommend, and many thanks to the Inn...
