This review comes with Bias because I have always wanted to see the redwoods, but I will try to come as close to the objective truth as I can.
Closeness to the Beach and Ocean: 9/10 - this bed and breakfast is a short walk to either beach near Trinidad. You can see the beautiful boat harbor and water from the front of the house, and hear the buoy bells. It’s not beach front property, but it’s as close as it gets. The pictures don’t do it justice.
The Host: 10/10 - Tyler was the perfect host. Breakfast came at the same time each morning, and he’s personable, and socially intelligent. If you’re just waking up he keeps the conversation to a minimum, if you’re looking for suggestions he’s happy to explore the details and talk more, he’s great over text and in person, and he keeps the place lovely and clean.
Access to the Redwoods: 10/10 - this BnB is right in the middle of where you’d want to be if you were looking to explore most of the common and popular hikes and beaches of the redwoods. The Avenue of the giants, fern canyon, Ladybird Johnson grove trail. Never more than an hour and a half drive north or south. It’s a fantastic home base at the end of each day.
Access to the Airport: 10/10 - I think it’s important to mention that this BnB is only a short distance from the nearby Humboldt County airport, so flying in and renting a car and getting to this place is the least chaotic experience I’ve ever had arriving at a vacation destination.
Food: 10/10 - if you’re looking for good seafood and blackberry shakes, this is your place. Wonderful chowder, fresh fish, oysters, and shrimp. Good food is easy to find, and there are plenty of places to get it. Even the local grocery store has...
Read moreI am super upset! I booked a room with them on July 25th and everything seemed to go great. My family and I were super excited. I received a phone call last night on 8/22/2021 and I was unable to answer so Tyler leaves me a message stating that there seems to have been a mistake with my booking and it turns out they don't have availability. Really!? Almost a month later! Mind you my booked date is 9/4/21. It's labor day weekend and all the hotels in the area are booked. Guess we will have to sleep in the car huh? To top it off I have spent all day calling, texting and even left a voice mail and I have yet to receive a phone call back. Now everytime I call it says call forwarded as if they blocked my phone number. I decided to call from my daughter's phone and Tyler answered, I don't know of he recognized that I was calling because I had asked for him by name but he hung up on me. I called back several times and now the call seems to be forwarded as well. This is ridiculous! I wasn't even upset at the internal mistake because we are human and things can happen but the fact that they are evading my calls is something else! If you were to say we had already spoke. And I was disrespectful or something of that nature I would understand but this wasn't the case. All I need to know is if I am going to be charged because from what I see it was nonrefundable (I am assuming no considering but I need confirmation) and being that they live in the area, if they know of any places in the area that might have availability considering the short notice. This is truly terrible...
Read moreWe had a most wonderful 3 night stay at Trinidad Bay Bed and Breakfast. Everything about this place was amazing! First, it’s perfect location for easy driving to the Redwood National and State Parks as well as being located in the cute and relaxed, upscale Trinidad. This location is right on the Trinidad Bay so you have nothing blocking your pristine view. It’s easy, walking distance to delicious restaurants (especially one that had unique fudge like carrot cake and strawberries and cream). And the fun hiking from this place was fabulous (Trinidad Head and Trinidad State Beach were so close, no car needed). ||Ok. Now for the place!! If you stay here you will feel spoiled. The magnificent breakfasts were 3 courses and always unique. So delicious, creative, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Fresh squeezed orange juice and sliced, peeled fresh fruit were also part of the lavish spread. |Tyler, the host, is amazing as all the reviews have stated. His kindness, attention to detail, helpfulness and of course cooking abilities were first class. ||Our room that we stayed in, The Redwoods room, was upstairs and lovely. Very roomy for the 2 of us and had many personal touches that we so enjoyed. The bed was extremely comfortable, the towels upscale and the attention to minute details was wonderful (including the exquisite tissues and toilet paper). ||Trinidad Bay Bed and Breakfast was the exceptional place to stay for our magical vacation to the redwoods. Thank you,...
