We decided to stay at the Top Mast this year after visiting and staying in many other motels in North Truro. Compared to the rest of them, this is the crown jewel. We had a one bedroom efficiency in Bldg 3, which was absolutely immaculate. Seaweed on the beach is a common occurrence for all motels along that strip, but they actually had a riding tractor each morning to clear it up. No other place along that strip did that. It is not the motel's fault, its the lay of the land on the bay which bring in the seaweed as the tides change. Each room had its own little deck, with a picnic table and grill stand and also chairs on the deck. You can bring your own grill or if they have extras, they will lend you one. When I asked for one, it was delivered in under 30 minutes! You step off your first room deck and you touch the sand! I plan to always come back here for my Cape Cod vacations. The pool building is immaculate, there is a gym, sauna and whirlpool and kiddy pool in there. The staff all over the property was very friendly and courteous. Its a big place and the staff has a lot to do but they are friendly and very nice to deal with on special requests. There were only 2 things that didn't suit us. There is no air conditioner in the room, only a small fan and while they tell you how to keep your deck door locked slightly ajar so that air can come thru the screen door, the breeze from the ocean doesn't do the cooling an air conditioner does. Also, I have a mobility problem and the bathtub had very high sides to it so in order for me to shower or bathe each day, I had to drive across the street to the pool building where they had immaculate walk in, wheelchair accessible shower stalls. All very accommodating and worked. Upon checking out we told management about this and they informed us that in one of the other buildings there ARE walk in showers for people like me and had I known that I would have taken one of those rooms instead. That was my fault in not asking about that when I made the reservation. I would strongly recommend this motel/resort when planning your vacation. When a place is a family run enterprise as this one is, you know they are staking their reputation on it, and they have done a fantastic job with the place, the employees they hire and as a result, get high customer satisfaction. Can't wait to go back next year. Thank you for creating a place so special to have our one week vacation in. We were not disappointed. And your rates were very...
Read moreVery comfortable hotel with excellent customer service!||There is no a/c but the breeze from the slider and cross windows was good. The slider screen locked well and there is a fan. The is no heat but the comforter is nice and I'm sure they'd provide extras blankets.||The bottom units step out to a small covered patio with 2 Adirondack chairs and table which enables you to sit out even if raining. A couple steps down to the sand is a picnic table (with umbrella hole) and charcoal grill unit for your use. Most people bring portable gas grills to use on the grill instead of charcoal. |A few steps down is the beach and bay which is beautiful. . You may see seals, and a whale if very lucky (my neighbor there did in past). The sunset over ptown is stunning. ||The beds are comfortable, the TV is small but ok with a range of station options, the wifi was fine and the bathroom was spotless. The kitchen set-up was good with a small table and pretty comfortable chairs looking out of slider. You may, however, want to bring a sharp chefs knife and paper towels. Coffee pot and filters are provided as is dish soap and towels. ||There is no assigned parking spaces but I was able to get a space each time right in front of my unit or nearby which helped in the rain. There is a pool with hot tub and sauna although I did not use. ||There is also a restaurant but I didn't visit it. Restaurants, ocean beaches, shopping, nature areas and entertainment are not within walking distance but nearby in Truro, Wellfleet and Provincetown. There is a shuttle bus that stops at Top Mast that will take you to Ptown and back. There are excellent hiking trails in Wellfleet and biking trails in ptown. Check out Truro wineries (great spiced rum), the local theater & music options, as well as the...
Read moreMy daughter and I stayed here for the weekend. I had not been to Cape Cod in many years. My daughter and I stayed here on yet another rainy New England weekend. Despite the lousy weather this resort was very nice. The room was very clean, and we had a ground level room which opens right onto the beach. The patio has two Adirondack chairs which are sheltered so even if it is raining there is protection. Each unit has a picnic table and a stand where a hibachi or charcoal grill can be placed. The kitchen has a good-sized fridge, microwave, toaster, two burner stove, and coffee pot which comes with filters. There were dishes and silverware for 4. We had brought provisions for breakfast and lunch. || The indoor pool and hot tub are across the street and there looks like there is also a shallow pool there for little kids. There were plenty of chairs and tables around the pool. The area there was clean, and it was really nice to go there and not be overrun by screaming kids. There is also a bar there with $7 cocktails (that is Right!!). There appears to be tennis courts and a basketball court as well and there is also a restaurant which serves food, but we did not use it.|| The staff was very nice, and the office has lots of maps, brochures and information about sites and restaurants in the area. There is also a book exchange library, so I was able to leave my finished book there for someone else to enjoy. There is a bus that goes to Provincetown. We will defiantly stay here again and will hope for a sunny weekend. This was NOT New England's summer. My daughter had stayed here over Memorial Day weekend ( one of the only sunny weekends) and she and her friends saw seals frolicking in the bay and she said the sunset...
