One Star — Dune Crest actively blocked me from getting emergency shelter.||I stayed at Dune Crest Motel for over three weeks. I was quiet, clean, and spent thousands of dollars there. In return, I was treated like a nuisance. The hotel claims to be pet-friendly, but after I brought my cat for the first two nights only, the manager acted like it was a huge problem. My cat was gone after that — for the remaining two and a half weeks, it was just me. Still, the staff continued making sideways comments and treating me like I didn’t belong. At breakfast, a housekeeper looked at me and said, “Oh, you’re staying with us again?” The manager actually got upset that I booked another night online and said, “I really wish you wouldn’t have done that, now I have to move a big group around.”||The staff’s attitude was cold and judgmental from the start. For the record, their latest excuse is that I had repeated late check-outs. That’s completely false. I asked once — just once — if I could check out at noon instead of 11. That’s the extent of it. The only actual “incident” was the night I made this review, when I called out the front desk woman for misrepresenting my situation and blocking me from getting emergency help from a local church. She was dismissive, vindictive, and clearly had no empathy.||Fast forward to this week: I’m homeless, just trying to get a roof over my head for one night. A local church called Dune Crest to book a room for me. The front desk woman — I think her name was Suli — asked for my name, said she had to check with the manager because “we’ve had problems with him and his cat,” then called back to refuse the booking. That was it. The church backed out and left me on the street. Dune Crest didn’t just turn me away — they intentionally blocked a third party trying to help me avoid being homeless for the night. That’s indefensible.||This is exactly what I mean about the negative, exclusionary mentality that sometimes passes for “hospitality” in Massachusetts. There’s a gatekeeping attitude and a complete lack of empathy for anyone in need. Don’t waste your money on Cape Cod. This business is money-hungry, rude, and lacks basic compassion, often exploiting tourists and visiting visa students, crowding them into houses with 30 or more people. If you want real kindness and hospitality, go to the South or the Midwest. All Massachusetts has to offer is pretty views and a...
Read moreIt was a Friday night (6/27/25). My son and husband wanted to escape to the Cape for the weekend (6/28-29/25). We normally stay at the Cape for 4-7 days every summer, but we've been very busy this year so a weekend would have to do. I browsed hotels half-heartedly as I expected to see nothing but $800+ prices for a weekend, especially Blessing of the Fleet weekend and right before the 4th. After a few hours of scrolling and page hopping, I see a ray of hope. The Dune Crest? I looked up reviews. The reviews touted newly renovated rooms and stellar service. And it was within our budget?? It sounded too good to be true. Hopeful and excited, I booked the room. Upon arrival shortly after 3pm, I walked in the office to see Helen at the front desk. The same Helen I'd heard so many wonderful things about in the reviews online. She was every bit the amazingly wonderful person I'd read about. I've never had an easier or more pleasant check-in/check-out experience. We must have chatted for 15-20 minutes during check-in. She's professional, warm and just lovely to be around. As for the property itself, the location and views are unbeatable. Sea views on one side, dunes and trees on the other. The hotel's buildings are far enough from Route 6 that you don't hear much traffic, if any. Navigating the property was easy. Getting on and off Rt 6 at the road entrance for the hotel was easy. It's located 10 minutes from the center of PTown and yet it feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere. The interiors of the rooms are beautiful. They did a great job with the renovations. Everything was very neat and clean with lovely furnishings. It was so welcoming after a long drive. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Noise doesn't seem to travel from room to room too badly. The breakfast was fresh and the coffee was tasty. We didn't go to the updated pool area, but it was well maintained and very enticing. We've never stayed at the Dune Crest before, but I guarantee we will again. Helen, if you're reading this, thank you for everything! And my offer at check-out still stands. If you need a few groundskeepers, my husband and I will be more than happy to move to the Cape and fill the...
Read moreMy wife, our dog, and I spent two nights at Dune Crest Hotel to celebrate my birthday, and the experience was absolutely amazing. It was our first time in the area, and it certainly won’t be the last!
From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at ease. The front desk manager, Helen Anderson, truly made our stay special. She was warm, professional, and always had a smile on her face. Helen went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed — she’s a true gem. It was also lovely to learn from her that the hotel is family-owned, and she spoke very kindly about the owners.
The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We also really enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning, which was a great way to start the day.
The hotel is pet-friendly, which made our experience even more special — traveling with our dog was a breeze. The location is incredibly convenient: just 7–10 minutes from Commercial Street, 10 minutes to a beautiful dog park, and only 6 minutes to the beach. The area felt very safe, and we appreciated the peace, quiet, and privacy the hotel offered.
The view was stunning, the atmosphere was relaxed, and every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. We left feeling refreshed and grateful for the wonderful hospitality.
If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place with a perfect location — Dune Crest is it. Thank you to Helen and the entire team for making our stay...
