Super 8 by Wyndham Tuscola — Hotel in Tuscola

If I were able to add all the photos that I took of this hotel, it would cause you to have a physical reaction. To go into more detail, we first checked-in, and it apparently somehow was a smoking room; by the way, I did not book a smoking room. With a refusal from the hotel to switch rooms, they stated that the hotel was completely full. Which when looked further into, it for sure was not. We heard no one in the 2 nights we stayed. After waking up the first night, we woke up to a stink bug, a broken shower, a smelly room, a beeping door, and more. Which set our plans back for the day by at least two hours, and the hotel not doing anything besides giving us a new room, stating "this is the only open room for the weekend", the room right across from us. Even then, the shower was disgusting, there was a hole in the wall, the phone was covered in this grease?? The hotel refused to give any compensation for the bad service, horrible room, and underwhelming experience. Staff was unwelcoming, and not willing to offer any other support besides restating the fact that there is a security deposit (which in-fact is not what I was referring to). I suggest anyone looking for a cheap hotel to not stay here, there was a stink bug, smells, and disgusting sheets. DO NOT...

We arrived on Friday night and check in was very smooth with no issues. I called from the room a little after check in for a couple extra towels and the nice woman from the desk brought them promptly. We had a fridge and microwave in the room that worked well. We did not have coffee available with the coffee maker in our room and breakfast ended before we made it down to check it out so we did not have coffee that morning. Not the end of the world as there is a McDonald’s across the parking lot where we got coffee but would have been nice to have some available. The room appeared clean for what you would expect from a Super 8. Wear and tear from time was showing but no mold or stains that I recall. The only issue in terms of cleanliness was that when I lifted the cushion on the chair before planning to sit in it there was A LOT of built up hair and moldy food underneath and alongside it. You could tell some of the food was older than others due to the level of mold and such so it likely hadn’t been cleaned in quite some time. So we just ended up not using the chair. We stayed in your establishment on the 26 thru the 29in Tuscola Illinois. We hung the do not disturb sign on our door when we left Friday morning and we returned after being at the Half Century Tractor Show in the 90 degree weather all day our sign was gone and housekeeping entered our room shut everything off including the air conditioner. Our room was just as hot inside the room as it was outside. Needless to say the manager did not believe me that the sign was on the door. It took 2 days before she would do anything for us. When we checked on Sunday she was not very friendly to me and wouldn't talk about the problem. We did not even get a thank you for staying there. I feel we should have been apologized to at the least. She acted like she was mad at us. I am sure that the $20 discount for that night did not make them loose any money out of our over a $300 bill. Needless to say we will never stay with a Super 8 by Wyndham again. This is not the first time we have had a problem with them but I wanted to give them a second chance.
