I was visiting for work from Texas and went last night to have a good meal. I don't know if it was a texas vs illinios preference but I was disappointed. I came in planning to get the chicken fried steak but ended up getting the 12 oz ribeye against my better judgment. To be fair, this isn't a steak house that prides themselves on cuts and cooking to order. $22 in 2025 isn't unreasonable either but the CFS was only $12, so nearly double what I intended to pay. That's my fault and not theirs . The prices are definitely reasonable though and I got a filling meal. The steak is cut very thin and was way over cooked from what I ordered. I ordered medium rare and got medium to medium well and with the thin cut it turns very tough quickly. Got a baked potato and green beans with the meal. Baked potato came with butter and sour cream only and was drying out due to being in the oven too long and the green beans were mush like they came out of a can full of preservatives. It made a turd as my family used to say but definitely wouldn't waste that money again. Maybe their other items are better but the steak was the worst I have had in many years. I didn't even complain because I knew that was the best they could do and I wasn't trying to get a free meal by any means. Waitress seemed new as well and didn't know the menu. People have to start somewhere though. Still very friendly, just not prepared to be in public. Not a big deal on there waitress but the ribeye was horrible and had no flavor. Guy that served it asked if I wanted A1 sauce. That is always the sign of a cover up for a...
Read moreMy husband and I visited on my birthday for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at the nice remodel of the old Denny's diner. A clean and nicely remodeled inside was nice after the building say empty for so long. The staff was extremely pleasant but didn't know much about the menu or food. We did visit in the first month they were open so hopefully they will get better over time. We visited during the week for breakfast and while the wait staff needed work, the kitchen staff did an amazing job. The food was hot, fresh and to our table quickly. I loved my wildberry pancakes because of the fresh fruit but disappointed that it was only on top of 3. My husband loved that his eggs were perfect and the skillet was decent sized but did not like that his country fried steak was cut up for him. Overall this diner is worth a stop when traveling through the area or if you are a local looking for a big selection for a...
Read moreLunch was great! The three of us were seated at a comfortable, roomy booth right away upon entering. Everything was clean and gleaming. Our friendly server took our drink orders right away, and they arrived quickly. The coffee was tasty and hot, which is important to us. Two of us ordered the walleye. It had a delightfully fresh taste and was cooked just right... crispy outside and tender inside. The fries were perfect too, and all the portions were quite generous. The side order of cole slaw was fresh and crispy, with a nice creamy dressing. Our uncle had the pork tenderloin, which he proclaimed top notch. He also enjoyed the generous serving of mashed potatoes and gravy. For dessert, Uncle enjoyed the dish of ice cream which was included with his senior meal, and my husband finished every crumb of an ample slice of lemon meringue pie. It was such a good place to visit and enjoy the classic diner decor. We...
