I booked this hotel several weeks in advance for a small family vacation in the area. We've never stayed at this hotel chain before, and honestly won't again after our experience, nor will we recommend this chain to anyone. I will say that our room was larger than expected and the hotel overall was clean and very nice, but we ended up changing our reservation and leaving after 1 night after several issues. I wouldn't recommend staying here with small children -- our room didn't have a bathtub to bathe our 3 kids. We made due with our older 2 in the shower, but had to bathe our 1 year old in the bathroom sink. We were told after checking in the pool wasn't open and wouldn't be for several days. We got to the room and had issues getting both the fridge and TV to work. The manager and another employee ended up looking at both and got everything working, but the fridge was barely cold even once they got it running. In the morning, the hair dryer stopped working halfway through drying my hair. I called the front desk and they said they'd bring up another one, which they never did. There wasn't much of a selection for breakfast, and what was there wasn't great and every coffee carafe was empty. We definitely weren't happy with our experience from the time we arrived, especially considering the fact that we were paying over $150/night and didn't have the stay we were hoping for. I spent the night we were there going back and forth to the front desk with issues and scrambling to find another hotel for the rest of the days we had reserved. We ended up staying at nearby Holiday Inn for the remaining nights for the same price, and had the stay we wanted and...
Read moreThis property is basically the ideal mid-market, comfortable-but-not-fussy hotel. I stayed for two nights last month, and I was impressed by both the service and the room. After a quick and easy check-in, I headed up to my room, which was spacious, spotless, and well-considered. (The people at Marriott who design the SpringHill Suites brand clearly did a lot of market research to figure out what business travelers want; it's space, a good bed, a large desk, and a lot of power plugs.)||||Shortly after I got to my room, I got a call from the front desk asking if there was anything I needed. I haven't gotten a call like that in years, and I sometimes stay at much pricier, four-plus-star downtown hotels. And this call didn't feel perfunctory; the attendant really seemed to go out of her way, including at check-in, to see how she could help.||||Breakfast was meh, which was what I expected. But this impressed me: Shortly after breakfast closed, a colleague came down, looking forlorn that he had missed the cutoff. When he asked an employee who was cleaning up whether breakfast had closed (of course it had), the employee told him to wait right there, went into the back, and made him a breakfast sandwich. It was the sort of unnecessary, above-and-beyond service that you remember. ||||So, the SpringHill Suites is not an elite resort or a unique boutique. But it is spacious, well-appointed, clean, and comfortable, with outgoing staff, and I'd go out of my way to stay there if I'm in the...
Read moreMy husband and I have been staying at this hotel since it first opened. As always, you can expect the hospitality to be the very best in all of Westmoreland county. All staff members take pride in the job they do. Front desk personnel make this clear as soon as you walk in. Friendly smile and greeting, timely check in, willing to accommodate all needs, and a very large lobby welcoming many people with comfortable seating. Rooms are very clean and spacious with a separate space for the long couch and a desk away from the bed. Many outlets throughout for electronic needs. Toilet/sink in a separate room away from the shower unit. The shower room has an extra long sink counter for toiletries. Business guests will find a great armoire to hold suits and business attire. Bed is comfortable with fresh , clean linen. Housekeeping does an exceptional job with every nook and cranny cleaned throughout the room. Breakfast is buffet style with hot and cold options and many choices. Young and old guests will find something to their liking and feel properly nourished. An indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a small exercise room is on the main floor. Management can always be found throughout the day and early evening, making sure quality is at its best. This is the only place I will stay in Westmoreland county, because it just feels like coming...
